Rony Curvelo, MAPET International Foundation representative, along with Mario Perez Jr.,thanked the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Miami</strong> <strong>Beach</strong> for their partnership with the Foundation for over a year, whichprovides an opportunity to disabled children and adults to sled hockey at Scott Rakow Youth Center.MAPET had an idea motivated by <strong>Commission</strong>er Garcia to put together a sled hockey tournamenton Sunday, March 13, at 2:00 p.m. and invited the <strong>City</strong> <strong>Commission</strong>ers, police <strong>of</strong>ficers, fire fightersand <strong>City</strong> Manager’s <strong>of</strong>fice. He explained sled hockey. He asked the <strong>Commission</strong> to be involved inthe tournament. The Mayor’s Office and <strong>City</strong> Manager’s Office have been given the materials. Insled hockey there are five players on each team and the cost is $500 per team.<strong>Commission</strong>er Bower complimented MAPET Foundation for their accomplishments. Sheparticipated in the wheelchairs to Brazil program.2. Dr. Morris Sunshine stated that he agrees with the priorities established for the Planning Board.He also stated that there are other things the Planning Board should be dealing with other thanentertainment districts. In his view, entertainment districts have a trivial priority. He suggesteddropping the entertainment districts but taking a good look that accessory uses which he feels hasbeen systematically abused. Secondly, the legal definition <strong>of</strong> “entertainment” is not adequatebecause it does not give the residents a stake. He stated that Victor Diaz, the Chair <strong>of</strong> the PlanningBoard does a heroic job trying to move the Planning Board agenda.3. Gil Zriny stated he would like to speak on item R7E.4. <strong>Commission</strong>er Garcia stated that regarding the informal poll taken at the Committee Of TheWhole meeting held during the noon break regarding having only one <strong>Commission</strong> <strong>Meeting</strong> a month,he suggested that the <strong>Commission</strong> hold a <strong>Commission</strong> meeting after 5 p.m. dealing with everythingexcept land issues, and thdn have either one or two meetings a month after 5 p.m. for the land issueitems.Jorge Gonzalez, <strong>City</strong> Manager repeated the idea: one general business meeting once a month, andas needed meetings after 5:00 p.m. to deal with land use issues.
