They protect the wearer and thepublic because they provide accurate, courtadmissible documentation of an event. It’sa fact that complaints, false allegations andpaperwork are all significantly reduced.Why wear cameras?Following the Stacy Bonds case in 2008, Ottawa defenceTamperproof, evidence admissible TheLittle Brother ensures that whateveris seen or heard is captured.lawyers called for all police officers to wear cameras to protect civilians from police whomight abuse their authority. Police had conducted a strip search of Stacy Bonds after shehad been arrested for public intoxication. Ms Bonds alleged that she had been physicallyand sexually assaulted during this search. Particularly in an age of mobile phones and YouTube, body-cams providean unedited, unbiassed and accurate account of events. Every force who has employed bodycams has seen a reduction in the number of complaints made against officers. The chances ofthe wearer being assaulted or abused are also reduced as soon as people are aware that theyare being filmed. The other bonus to video footage is that it is infinitely more reliable thansomeone’s memory, particularly if they are having to testify several months after the event.The Head-CamThe Little Brother head-cam is supplied by a company thatspecialises in mobile, digital evidence gathering technology forlaw enforcement and emergency services personnel.
