I have been unable toacquire a copy of the April edition! So I send this e-mail in the hope that I can join the prepaidsubscribers list if it applies to non Nailsworthresidents. Since I spent many years in Nailsworth as aboy; that all my family lived in Nailsworth at somestage, and an Aunt and a Cousin still reside at WalkleyWood. I find your News Letter extremely well puttogether and very readable.I also enclose a copy of my late Grand Father's drivinglicence which was one of the earliest issued in theCounty. He was employed as chauffer to the Playnefamily at Longfords. The original is held by theGloucestershire Record Office.(The driving licence did not reproduce well in print butyou should be able to see it on the website. Ed.)Mark Peer writesNailsworth Tennis Club has completed a programme ofrefurbishment to their courts, lights and the clubhouse. The programme has been on hold for over 4 years dueto the uncertainty of the site. The courts were in need ofrepair so we made a decision to spend over £15,000 oftennis club funds on the upgrade. The club would like to expand its activities and makeuse of the area of land next to the courts. Anydevelopment would be funded by the Tennis Club. Wedo not have a HQ in the main building as stated in theMay issue and do not have meetings there because ofthe poor interior state of the building. We are indiscussion with the Subscription Room Committee overa new lease agreement which would allow us to applyfor LTA grant funding to improve facilities inside thebuilding. The club runs 6 teams in the county leagues and wehave 3 qualified coaches able to coach all levels ofability from the beginner to the team player. Subject toa new lease agreement the new court area will allow foran expansion of club membership and once more to runjunior teams. Junior mini-tennis is another activity areawhere we want to expand.
