As a big thankyou to everyone who hassupported me.You can still do it.It was, as expected, a difficultrun; the temperatures were inexcess of 50° and the constantnightly sandstorms wereexhausting. The sand was notonly on my feet but in mypack, food and all over me!YUK.I found myself, every day, climbing, hanging, running andcrawling through all types of terrain in the high temperatures, drinking tepid water, eating nuts and dried fruit. How I longedfor a roast dinner and a good old English cup of tea! However,I thought of all those people who supported me - my family, colleagues, friends and the people of Nailsworth andMalmesbury. It was an experience I will never forget. So far £9,000 has been raised – well done, everyone, andthank you. There is still time to donate. Please do so, as everypenny helps, to my office at 10, Oxford Street, Malmesbury,Wilts 01666 824715.FGRI was up at the recent FGR Awards Luncheon to photographthose players who had been awarded trophies for their effortsthis last season. I thought it would be just a few cups andthings and would be over quickly! How wrong I was ... there were 20 or so awards given awayand I was delighted to be part of it, simply because it gave alittle inkling into what goes on up at the Club and behind thescenes. It was great to see so manyYouth team players there beinghonoured for their achievementsand to hear of the great efforts theymake just to play soccer! It was also wonderful to hear of theLadies’ Team and what they hadachieved along with the 'stars' of the1st XI that we see week in, weekCharlie Griffin (rt) receives theSupporters' Player of the Year Awardout. It is clear that FGR is a forwardlooking Club and it’s determined togrow. It is also desperate to get new players in at grass rootslevel, players of all ages and either sex.
