Congratulations to all the swimmers! Now you can start planning
for the LRC Pennant Gala to be held on 2 October 2010.
I want to take the time to explain and clear up some confusion on
the cancellation policy for learn to swim lessons and the summer
session. If you are cancelling your swim class for summer (July
and August) but have signed up to start swimming the first week of
Sarah Hsu, swim team captain
September then your spot will be there for you. The LTS coaching
staff will contact you over the summer to let you know if your
child has advanced to a new level and the time options available
for the new class. Please make sure that you have confirmed with
Jonathon or Polly that your child will return to swimming the first
week of September at the start of the new fall session. The LTS
coaching staff apologizes that they cannot hold a LTS spot past
the first week of September.
Over the past five years there have been a number of changes to the
LRC swim program. The largest has been the creation of an inhouse
swim program, which will soon complete its second year
of operation.
The LRC now has four full-time and five part-time swim coaches
and instructors, lead by Head Coach John Dempsey.
John Dempsey brought with him to the LRC over 30 years of
experience in the “Learn to Swim” and Squad coaching industry.
John has acted as Head Coach for National Swim teams including
the Australian squad at the Deaf Olympic Games in Rome, 2001.
In 2001 he was awarded Australian Coach of the Year for swimmers
with a disability. From 2004 until 2007 prior to joining us at the
LRC, John worked as the Coaching Director for the Singapore
Swimming Association at the Centre of Excellence in Singapore
leading the training programs for the National Team.
Herbert Yu Hang Chi attained his Bachelor of Applied Science
specializing in Coaching Science from University of Canberra,
Australia in 2004. From 2005-07, Herbert was the Youth Team
Coach for the Singapore Swimming Association at the Centre of
Excellence in Singapore. In 2007-08, he was appointed as the Head
Coach for the Indonesian National Swimming Team at the Beijing
Olympic Games. 13 years of coaching in Hong Kong and other
countries give him a wealth of experience. In addition, Herbert
is a qualified Strength and Conditioning Coach and Sport Trainer.
