1.9.3 USE OF SCRRA APPROVED DEVICESA. Only SCRRA provided or approved electronic communication devicesmay be used on SCRRA right-of-way in the performance of duty.B. Refer to MofW OPR Rules (Sec. 2.0) for instructions concerning radiouse.C. Company cellular phones may be used for official communication alongthe right of way as long as such phone is used outside of the foul distanceof track, whether the track is in service or not.D. Company cellular phones <strong>and</strong> railroad radios may be used in the operatorscab only for official railroad communication. At no time shall theoperator be distracted from operating the equipment or vehicle.E. Hi-rail vehicle <strong>and</strong> equipment operators shall, whenever practical, stop thevehicle or equipment to use either company cellular phone or railroadradio.F. Hi-rail vehicle operators shall stop vehicle whenever using a companyprovided lap-top computer.G. At no time, shall any passenger (railroad employee or contractor) riding ina train’s operator cab, locomotive, on-track equipment, or hi-rail vehicle,use any electronic device, unless assisting in h<strong>and</strong>ling an emergencysituation.H. At no time shall cellular phone or railroad radio use place the user oranyone else in an unsafe situation.I. Do not use cellular phones in areas where inattention could result in beingstruck by tools or equipment.J. Digital thermometers may be used in the performance of railroad duties.K. Electronic testing equipment shall be used in accordance with CFR 49parts 213 <strong>and</strong> 214.L.
