There cannot be twoopinions that everyone of us in order to have good mustgive up evil there;cannot l>eopinions that everyoneof us to have life must give up what is death.And yet, what remains to us, if this theory* involvesgiving up the life of the senses, life as we know andit,what we mean bylife ? If we give up all this, nothingremains.We shall understand this better, when, later on, wecome to the more philosophical portions and discussions ofthe Vedanta. But for the present I beg to state that intho Vedanta alone we find a rational solution of theproblem. Here I can only state to you what the Vedantawants to teach, and that is, the deification of the world.The Vedanta does not, in reality, denounce the world.The ideals of renunciation nowhere attain such a climax asin the teachings of the Vedanta, but, at the same time,dry, suicidal advice is not intended, it really means deification of the world give up the world as we think of it, aswe seem to know it, as it is appearing, and know what itreally is.
