The current <strong>Mid</strong> <strong>Suffolk</strong> Local <strong>Plan</strong>1998 Proposals Map will be updated once the <strong>Stowmarket</strong> <strong>Area</strong> <strong>Action</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> has beenadopted.Public Art: Works of art in any media that have been planned and executed with thespecific intention of being sited or staged in the public realm.Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI): Electronic information displays at railwaystations or bus stops to give current information about services, delays, and anticipatedrunning times.Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS): See East of England <strong>Plan</strong>.The Regulations: These include the Town and Country <strong>Plan</strong>ning (Local Development)(England) Regulations 2004 and subsequent updates, and the Town and Country <strong>Plan</strong>ning(Local <strong>Plan</strong>ning) (England) Regulations 2012.Regionally Important Geological / Geomorphological Sites (RIGS): RIGS are in thecategory of Local Sites (as defined by DEFRA), and resemble County Wildlife Sites intheir status. (See 'Local Sites: Guidance on their Identification, Selection and Management'(DEFRA 2006).Rural Diversification: A term relating to improving and sustaining the quality, range andoccupational mix of employment in rural areas in order to provide wide and varied workopportunities for rural people, including those formerly or currently employed in agricultureand related sectors.Rural Exception Site: Small sites used for affordable housing in perpetuity where siteswould not normally be used for housing. Rural exception sites seek to address the needsof the local community by accommodating households who are either current residentsor have an existing family or employment connection. Small numbers of market homesmay be allowed at the local authority’s discretion, for example where essential to enablethe delivery of affordable units without grant funding.Saved Policies or <strong>Plan</strong>s: The majority of MSDC Local <strong>Plan</strong> policies have been savedand will continue to be used within development control until they are replaced by 'newstyle' Local <strong>Plan</strong>s.Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM): A building or structure above or below groundwhose preservation is of national importance, in a schedule compiled by the Secretary ofState for Culture, Sports and Recreation.Secondary Villages: These are villages that are unsuitable for growth, but capable oftaking appropriate residential infill and development for local needs.Secondary Shopping Frontages: Shopping frontages adjoining the Primary ShoppingFrontages.
