SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES at Full Speed
Our first few months of successful operation
since our move from Hanau to Alzenau in
Germany and from Enfield to Windsor, CT in
the US have been achieved. All assets and
inventories have been transferred, the
organization is in place and the vital network
of telephone, fax and computer systems is
now fully operational at the new sites. The
separation from Leybold is clear-cut: effective
January 1, 1996 there are no shareholder,
financial or management links remaining.
Our company now stands alone in the extensive
world of optical disc and
compact disc metallization. At REPLItech Utrecht
1996, we will enter into our second
business phase: we will become a supplier of
compact disc replication lines.
Our staff in Germany has surpassed the 50
employee mark and the US staff comprises
10 employees; while not large, we are a very
dynamic and competent team. Our
customers have quickly accepted SINGULUS
TECHNOLOGIES as the experts of compact
disc metallization.
As the world market leader in this
dedicated market, our effectiveness has been
demonstrated by our gain in
market shares during the past six months.
Machine deliveries for 1996 will substantially
exceed those in 1995 affording us tremendous
business opportunities.
Our visions are creativity, innovation, performance
and speed. We feel all committed to

This second edition of SINGULUS NEWS coincides with a significant
event for SINGULUS III TECHNOLOGIES: The launch of the SINGULUS
III metallizer and the SKYLINE replication systems at REPLItech Europe in
Utrecht, Netherlands. It is the first public presentation of our newest
hardware to the replication community. Building up the new equipment
and finishing it for presentation has been a challenge for our young company,
but we have succeeded.
Many new ideas have materialized in the design of SINGULUS III and
SKYLINE, new ideas which we believe will make these systems superior
production tools.
Equipment productivity is a key success factor in this highly competitive
market, which has been characterized by ever increasing price pressure.
One of the items which has always been important in the productivity
equation is disc handling. The development of wear-free mechanical grippers,
provides a big step forward in minimizing unscheduled downtime by
significantly reducing the possibility of mishandling and disc jamming.
With SINGULUS III, these mechanical grippers are built into the loading/
unloading handling and they work in conjunction with active mechanical
clamps of the disc receivers. SKYLINE also utilizes mechanical grippers for
all disc on transportation.
A new cathode has been developed which, once more, increases power efficiency.
Both, SINGULUS III and SKYLINE, take advantage of this development.
The introduction of SKYLINE demonstrates our conviction that the productivity
of a well engineered monoline is far better than that of half a
duoline. Simplicity results in better uptime and any downstream problem
will stop only one molding machine.
For customers preferring inline printing, we offer SKYLINE with an integrated
four color screen printer and remote control screen adjustment
for shorter set up times. Automatic screen adjustment by using a more intelligent
label inspection unit and closed loop to the servo drives at the
printing heads will be available soon.
With the presentation of our new products, we showcase our focus in
technology, knowing that only perfect equipment will enable us to play a
leading role in the technology driven disc replication industry.
Excellent technology is one of the prerequisites for success in the marketplace,
but an even more important element is customer satisfaction. This is
the challenge we have to fulfil as well.
Right now, we are intensively working on building up a world-wide sales
and service network. Within the next few months, we will install branch
offices to provide these services. Three European offices located in the
UK, in France and the Netherlands will bring us as close as possible to our
customers in these countries. As an answer to the growing importance of
the West Coast of the United States due to the exceptional growth of the
CD-ROM production and the upcoming DVD business, we will start up a
West Coast Office as a branch of SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES Inc. in
Windsor, CT shortly.
During second half of this year, SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES Asia Pacific
in Singapore will become operational. Besides representing our products
in the Asia Pacific region, this branch office will also provide technical assistance,
spare parts and service capability to territories, where local representatives
are successfully working as the interfaces link to our customers.
We are sure that with the establishment of all these sales and service centers
SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES have laid the foundation to become a
global player in the optical disc business.
It will be a pleasure for us to keep you informed about our plans.

SKYLINE
We have developed SKYLINE, the modular
answer to the market needs for highly
productive replication systems, which can
fulfill any customer requirements. SKYLINE
is designed as a monoline, that hardly can
be made more simple, but without any
compromise in respect to quality. The
revolutionary disc handling using wear free
mechanical grippers is the ultimate answer
how to avoid downtime caused by leaking
vacuum suckers. The three fingers pick the
disc in its center hole. These new
mechanical grippers are installed for all
downstream disc handling.
