Unusual <strong>and</strong> early Gallé vase, nice bulbous <strong>and</strong> footed shape, amber tinted glass internally decorated with dark green <strong>and</strong> bluemottling <strong>and</strong> silver foil inclusions imitating moss agate, the upper portion <strong>of</strong> vessel carries nicely detailed carved, wheel cut <strong>and</strong>hammered designs <strong>of</strong> poppies <strong>and</strong> a butterfly which display bright green foil highlights, the ring <strong>of</strong> glass connecting the body <strong>and</strong>flared foot has an amber tint, incised signature, 4.5”w x 8.5”h, a rare <strong>and</strong> very fine example <strong>of</strong> Gallé’s early work 6000-8000Reference: A vase with a similar technique is pictured in Glass by Gallé, by Duncan <strong>and</strong> de Bartha, p. 114467.
