Recent Immigration Policies in MENA RegionRegional initiatives include the so-called 5+5Dialogue on Migration in the WesternMediterranean, hosted by the IOM in 2002,2003 and 2004. Adaption to Climate Migration in CoastsIn the MENA region and for the greaterMediterranean watershed, displacementmigration and re-settlement needs to be seenas a human adaptive response to climatechange.Migrants will need to be accommodated in urbansettlements and different sectors of coasts.Need for thoughtful debate about treatment ofinternal (displacement) and internationalmigrants. Different responses may be requireddepending on the origin and needs of migrants.Significant international support may be requiredfor MENA countries who experience significantinternal and international migrations.
