of large neuromorphic systems, in a manner
analogous to the powerful constructive
understanding that has driven the digital
computer industry. The development of such a
formalism for the construction of biological (or
organic) style computers, would lead to an
explosion of low-cost autonomous intelligent
systems for use in (for example) motor vehicles,
intelligent buildings, home automation, the
entertainment and leisure industries, and in a
variety of robots that are necessary for
exploration, mining, and maintenance.
