She was born November 12,1928, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Roy and Louise Benadum ofLancaster, Ohio.Marilyn graduated from Lancaster High School, Lancaster, Ohio, andOffice Training School, Columbus, Ohio. She was a secretarybookkeeperfor Haning's Inc. in Lancaster and later a paralegalsecretary in Athens, Ohio.Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband John A. Ruffin 2000.Marilyn is survived by their four children, Carol (Jim) Skoog of SanJose, California, Ellen (Jeff) Mordas of Hatfield, Pennsylvania, Linda(Jeff) Haynes of Hilliard and Glenn (Ann) Ruff of Gahanna; as wellas their 14 grandchildren, Karin and Stephanie Skoog, Brandon,Taren, and Melina Mordas, Timothy, Nicholas, Andrew, Daniel,Salynn, Sadie, and Patrick Haynes, and Kaleigh and Devin Ruff.Known for her love of geography and outstanding mapping skills, she enjoyed camping in forty-eight statesand Canada as well as traveling throughout Europe. Her focus was her children and extended family. Herchildren remember her for her unrivaled organizational skills and her dedication in researching familygenealogy. An extremely hard worker, she maintained many fruit trees and an extensive vegetable garden,evolving into a family tradition of pressing cider and cooking applesauce each summer. Marilyn was amember of OCCL and was the church historian for Peace Lutheran Church.Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME,650 W. Waterloo Street, Canal Winchester. A funeral service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 28Elm Street, Canal Winchester at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14.
