Solder ring solutionsTube compatibilityand applications3Yorkshire integral solder ring capillary fittingsare suitable for jointing copper tube, whichmust meet the requirements of BS EN 1057.BS EN 1057 Specification for copper andcopper alloy – seamless round coppertubes for water (and gas) in sanitary andheating applications. BS EN 1057 includesspecified temper conditions (materialstrength) expressed as an “R” number. Quitesimply, the higher the number, the harderthe material. As a result, tube diameter,wall thickness, length and the materialtemper must all be specified for full productdesignation.R220 Annealed condition with a tensilestrength of 220N/mm 2 supplied in coils andsuitable for connection by push-fit, capillaryand compression fittings. Can be bent withsuitable bending tools.R250 Half hard condition with a tensilestrength of 250N/mm 2 supplied in straightlengths and suitable for connection bypush-fit, press-fit, capillary and compressionfittings. Can be bent with suitable bendingtools.R290 Hard condition with a tensile strengthof 290N/mm 2 supplied in straight lengthssuitable for connection by push-fit, press-fit,capillary and non-manipulative compressionfittings. Not suitable for bending. Thespecifications of copper tube compatiblewith Yorkshire integral solder ring fittingsare detailed in Table 1. Yorkshire GeneralHigh Duty fittings are also compatible withhigh duty copper tubes, the use of which willenable maximum system temperature andpressure performance.Imperial copper tubeYorkshire integral solder ring fittings withmetric or BSP ends are not compatible withimperial copper tube.
