Dawn Evans – kConFab Victoria
I am a breast cancer survivor. Painting is probably the most relaxing of
all activities for me as it has helped me through some not so good
days. I find it is a past time where one can quite easily get lost in time.
My family was a great support and with their strength we travelled this
journey to good health together.
Deborah Angus – Sydney
Deborah Angus was introduced to Gai Waterhouse through mutual
racing friends. She relished the opportunity to paint the portrait as she
had been a keen lover of horses since an early age, competing herself
in eventing and dressage. “Sittings” for the portrait were done at 4am
trackside at Randwick. “It was such a special moment” said Deborah,
Gai would wander around, briefing the jockeys, intensely listening to
the rhythm of the horses – all this happening as the light came up on
the day. She was so generous with her time and so obviously loved
and highly regarded by everyone around her”
The portrait was painted as an Archibald prize entry 2004.
