Creation will unfold in theform of a painting, Paul Oman will create a painting on the theme of creation, live in thespan of 40 minutes during our Thanksgiving worship service. A story will be revealedartistically, musically, narratively and scripturally during the event. As “creation”unfolds on canvas, musicians will praise God through their instruments and voices,readings from the Bible will inspire us, and most importantly, we will give thankstogether for God’s creation. Come and see!Oman is a Lutheran pastor who now works full-time as a freelance artist. This is not hisfirst time painting during a Shepherd of the Valley worship service. He has created twothemed masterworks for SOTV in prior visits: “Drawn to the Shepherd” and “Drawn tothe Light.” Each time Oman visits, people are fascinated as they watch Oman workhis magic with color and brush. Worshiperswill have the opportunity to light candlesin remembrance of loved ones.Worldwide CandleLighting ServiceSunday, December 8 at 7:00 PM“Bible Character Madness” This Fall at SOTVYou’ve probably heard of “March Madness,”and you’ve likely heard about thebrackets involved in that annual basketball tournament. Throughout October andNovember SOTV will be having our own fun form of March Madness. We’re callingit “Bible Characters Madness.” During these 8 weeks you will have weekly opportunitiesto vote on your favorite character from the Old Testament. Each week you’llbe able to vote on two pairings. Voting will take place on paper ballots at church orvia Facebook. Each weekend the results will be posted on the brackets which will beon our Atrium wall.The 16 Bible characters in the running are all people that we will encounter in ourBible stories this fall during worship. In addition, you will be able to find moreinformation about each of the characters: 1) on our church website, 2) in the Bible,or 3) on a handout near the wall in the Atrium.Wondering who you should vote for? There is no wrong answer to this fun, weeklypolling adventure.
