PUBLIC COMMENTSComments from public (45 days)Project Initiator <strong>and</strong> the Consultant are expectedto respond to all the written comments receivedfrom the public.2525EXAMPLE: A COASTAL RECLAMATION PROJECTFOR OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY 81 houses with<strong>in</strong> 500 m radius from the projectboundary. Project site to be re-zone as <strong>in</strong>dustrial area. Villagers to be relocated <strong>and</strong> compensated. 115 fisherman affected (with<strong>in</strong> project site). Focus group discussion were held with the Penghulu<strong>and</strong> Ketua Kampung. Dialogue with fishermen was held with presence of theMember of Parliament, District Offices reprentatives <strong>and</strong>Fisheries Department. Socio-economic survey: Respondents are <strong>in</strong>terviewedvillagers,fishermen, non-fishermen. Issues raised was reported <strong>in</strong> the D<strong>EIA</strong> Report.2613

Onl<strong>in</strong>e Displayof Full <strong>EIA</strong> Report To improve transparency<strong>in</strong> the <strong>EIA</strong> system & toenhance the level ofpublic participation <strong>in</strong><strong>Malaysia</strong>. As of 1 st of July 2012 all<strong>EIA</strong> reports submitted toDOE (both thePrelim<strong>in</strong>ary <strong>and</strong> Detailed<strong>EIA</strong>) must beaccompanied with a CDconta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g the softcopyof the full <strong>EIA</strong> Report.29 Details of the submission : The softcopy of <strong>EIA</strong> <strong>in</strong> PDF formatwith security features - for view only.WAYFORWARD The softcopy can be dividedaccord<strong>in</strong>g to the chapters/ topics -each file must not exceed 100MB The softcopy must <strong>in</strong>clude allchapters, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g the ExecutiveSummary <strong>and</strong> the Appendices Submission for the hardcopy reportsare still required for display <strong>in</strong> thepublic library, <strong>process</strong><strong>in</strong>g, fil<strong>in</strong>grequirement etc.3015
