C.1 MwMu: Financial Services<br />

Participating fishing communities shall have access to financial services. ��� �� �� ��<br />

Comments / explanations: local financial institutions to provide services and training to<br />

fishers at their fishing and sites. Among the institution include National Microfinance Bank.<br />

C.2 MwMu: Transparency in price development<br />

Fish price developments along the value chain should be transparent (current telephone<br />

number procurement manager will be made available to all BMUs).<br />

Comments / explanations: Daily price communicated to BUMs by Project coordinator every day. The<br />

MBU display respective prices on NOTICE board visible to everyone including fishers and their families. This<br />

observed at Kijiweni BMU, but the price poster may be remove to replace new others as the space is limited.<br />

BMU also communicates with fishers at the site through available phone services; see photo.<br />

3 All: Contracts<br />

The participating fishermen must be – directly or indirectly – linked by contract to <strong>Naturland</strong><br />

certification.<br />

comments / explanations: there is no formal written contract between fishers and suppliers. Yet, fisher<br />

have been listed with suppliers and collectors a document signed by both parties, who have contract with<br />

factory. The factory signed contract with <strong>Naturland</strong><br />

5 All: Documentation of Project Management<br />

The management of the <strong>fishery</strong> project must be able to prove that the requirements laid<br />

down in the standards and the project-specific management conditions are implemented<br />

systematically, effectively and promptly at every level. This proof includes: - consistent<br />

records and analysis of the catch data - feedback between the current catch data and the<br />

fishing practice in place - knowledge of current national and international regulations and<br />

fulfilment of the duties arising there from - establishment of mechanisms guaranteeing<br />

regular communication between the project and the fishermen with regard to social matters<br />

- existence of and compliance with a development plan (e.g. for deficient issues).<br />
