Abidingin theShadowof theAlmightyby Lindsay RobertsHe that dwelleth in the secret place of themost high shall abide under the shadow of theAlmighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refugeand my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare ofthe fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and underhis wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall bethy shield and buckler.Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror bynight; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; norfor the pestilence that walketh in darkness;nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.A thousand shall fall at thy side, and tenthousand at thy right hand; but it shall notcome nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shaltthou behold and see the reward of the wicked.Because thou hast made the Lord, which isPsalm 91my refuge, even the most high, thy habitation;there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall anyplague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge overthee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shallbear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thyfoot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon thelion and adder: the young lion and the dragonshalt thou trample under feet.Because he hath set his love upon me,therefore will I deliver him: I will set him onhigh, because he hath known my name. Heshall call upon me, and I will answer him: Iwill be with him in trouble; I will deliver him,and honour him. With long life will I satisfyhim, and shew him my salvation.4J A N U A R Y / F E B R U A R Y 2 0 1 3

What a wonderful passageof scripture—one of myabsolute favorites! Myfather-in-law, Oral Roberts, useda great comparison about an eaglewhen he preached about Psalm 91.He said that when the mother eagleprotected her young that wereinside the nest, she covered themso completely with the feathers ofher wings that if a predator cameby, they could not see the babyeagles at all. The only thing theycould see was the big mother eagle, and of course they didn’t want toprovoke her. The enemy wouldn’teven know the babies were there—that’s how safe those little eagletswere. And that’s how safe, secure, and protected I believe we can beunder the protective “wings” ofAlmighty God.But according to these verses,we have a responsibility too. It’sup to us to acknowledge that allof this protection that Godpromises us comes with a part thatwe must do. The way I read thisscripture, if we want to enjoy theprotection He offers, then our partis to learn to abide under Hisshadow (Psalm 91:1).To abide means to “live in,remain, and find rest and peace.”Abide means make it your lodgingplace. It means to stop and haverest. Psalm 91:1 doesn’t say run toGod only when we get into a jam, then cut out and run into anotherjam and hope to maybe somedaycome back to God just under theticking clock of the midnight hour.It means to live in His presence andto remain there continually. Therefore, I believe it’s up to us todiligently choose to live in thatplace with Him and His Wordevery day. And for what purpose? To punish us by putting boundarieson us? To me, it’s not to punish, but rather, to protect by binding usso close to Him that He is well ableto overshadow us with Hisprotective covering.I believe we have a Bible rightto turn to God when struggles andtrials come against us, and I believeHe is faithful to make a way ofescape for us. But we are the oneswho make the conscious choice toabide, live, and dwell in the shadowor the covering of Almighty God.By an act of our will and our faith,we are, according to the scriptures,to remain faithfully and confidentlywithin God’s place of heavenlysafety for us. That means to liveand function within the guidelinesof His ways and His Word. Andthen after we’ve done our part, then I believe we can expect Godto do His part as we choose todwell in Him and call Him FatherGod—the One who is our refugeand fortress.I encourage you to open yourlife today and every day to God’sWord and His promises to care foryou. Then I believe you can beginto see situations begin to turnaround for your good! YW W W. M A K E YO U R D AY C O U N T. C O M 5

Everydayness with Evelyn RobertsCommitment for a LifetimeWhither thou goest, I willgo; and where thoulodgest, I will lodge: thypeople shall be my people, and thy God my God.—Ruth 1:16 KJVOral and Evelyn on their wedding day,December 25, 1938.by Evelyn RobertsIwas so glittery-eyed when Oraland I got married! To tell thetruth, I didn’t know muchabout the man I was marrying. Ionly knew that I was supposed tomarry him, because God had placedit in my heart two years earlierwhen we met at an old-fashionedcamp meeting in Sulphur,Oklahoma. After the first service I wrote inmy diary, “Tonight I met my futurehusband. He is tall and handsome. Hisname is Oral Roberts.” But not oncedid he ask me for a date during thatweek! We went our separate ways, andI took a teaching position in Texas. After two years we began writingto each other, and before long, Oraland his mother came to Texas on aweekend trip. We became engagedduring that visit and were marriedon Christmas Day, 1938, in a10-minute wedding ceremony thatbrought us together for eternity. say that we didn’t know each othervery well would be an understatement.Coupled With GodEarly in his healing ministry, Oralconducted three-week crusades andwould be exhausted when he camehome. I would fix his favorite foodsand give him plenty of rest. I wantedhis time at home to be as “normal”as possible. But in reality, with ourbusy schedules and demands on ourtime, we were learning to livewithout needing each other to makelife complete. One night Oral said, “Evelyn, there’s something wrong. We’regrowing apart.”“Well, we love each other, butwe’re just so busy with normal life,”I replied. He said, “Evelyn, I don’t want usto have a ‘normal’ life. I want alwaysto be sweethearts.”That night we got down on ourknees and talked to God about ourmarriage and this problem. Soon wewere in one accord with the Lord.We felt as though we had just gottenmarried again, and we’ve nevergrown apart since. We are sweetheartsand always will be.Since that night, Oral and I haveoften had “prayer meetings” withthe Lord to harmonize our thinkingand planning. These are precioustimes when two people whose liveshave become one can also comeinto oneness with the heavenlyFather’s will. These moments havekept our marriage supremely happyand have helped us to synchronizethe job of living both a public andprivate life consistently andabundantly.Yes, throughout the years therehave been lonely hours when he wasaway, and our life together has takenmany turns. But I’ve always beenthankful to God that the commitmentI made to Oral Roberts and thecommitment he made to me 66 yearsago were for a lifetime of joytogether. YEverydayness is a tribute to Evelyn Roberts who wenthome to be with the Lord in 2005. Tap intoGod’s Purposefor Your LifeLindsay with special guest, Sheree Fletcher, and co-host Belinda Scott.Recently on our Make Your Day Count TV program, my co-host Belinda Scottand I interviewed a very special guest, Sheree Fletcher. Sheree is a mother, wife, entrepreneur, and a gifted reality TV star. Her husband, Terrell Fletcher, played football in the NFL for the San Diego Chargers and today is the pastorof City of Hope International in San Diego, CA. Sheree has a great desire toempower women with the purpose of God. She also shared with us the storybehind her unusual moisturizing cream for dry skin. —LindsayLindsay: Hello, you lovely lady! Weare so glad you’ve joined us today. You have an amazing story that Iknow has inspired a lot of women. You were married to Hollywoodactor Will Smith. You went througha public and painful divorce, youwere part of a reality show aboutHollywood exes, and now you’re anentrepreneur and a minister! Youhave been through a lot!Sheree: Yes, Lindsay. At the time ofmy divorce, I did not know the Lord.I knew He was real, but I didn’t havea relationship with Him. In 1999, it10J A N U A R Y / F E B R U A R Y 2 0 1 3

ecame very clear to me that myway of living wasn’t working. In thenatural, I had everything I couldneed, but I still wasn’t happy. Godshowed me that it wasn’t happinessI was looking for, because happinessis situational.Lindsay: Happiness comes and goes.Sheree: Right! What I was lookingfor was fulfillment. I was lookingfor my purpose. We serve a Godwho has purpose, and we are madein His image. That means we needpurpose too. So I gave my life tothe Lord Jesus Christ, and I havenot looked back. I felt the leadingof the Lord to begin to help otherwomen be overcomers in life. TheLord showed me that He is the onewho gives us purpose, but part ofmy assignment from Him was tohelp women get the POWER to tapinto God’s purpose for their lives. No matter what we go through inlife, the Bible tells us that the samecomfort we’ve received, we shouldgive that comfort to somebody else(2 Corinthians 1:3–4). There’s aresponsibility that we have to oneanother—to bear one another’sburdens, to help pull our sisters outof trouble if we can, and to preventour sisters from hitting the wall asmany of us have.Belinda: Just like you, so manywomen have been through desertexperiences, times when we’ve feltlost and alone. And you are helpingthem come out with purpose andpower and without shame.Lindsay: I like that—with no shame! But what do you do when somebody’shurt you? What do you do when ahuge change comes to your life suchas the break-up of a marriage? Howdo you avoid bitterness, regret, andshame?Sheree: I believe it’s a consciouschoice. I believe you have to chooseto not be bitter and choose to notdwell in shame. I also believeforgiveness has to be done quickly.Belinda: Now, hold on a second. Shesaid forgiveness has to be donequickly!Sheree: Yes, the decision to forgiveneeds to be made quickly, but theforgiveness itself is a process.Lindsay: So many times, it “feels”better to gripe and complain. Let’sbe honest—sometimes we wouldrather pick up the telephone and calla friend. But I believe a true friendwill listen to you and let you ventyour feelings, because I think thatis part of our healing process. Butthen that friend could say, “OK, areyou through? You’ve been there longenough; it’s time to move forward!”Belinda: So, Sheree, when did youbegin sensing the Lord telling youthat you had something to give thatwould bless other women?W W W. M A K E YO U R D AY C O U N T. C O M 11

Sheree: Well, after I got saved, I hadsuch an intense desire to know theLord. I studied everything I couldget my hands on. I was taking onlinecourses, and I was surrounded bynotebooks. I just couldn’t get enoughof Him. It was during that time thatI developed Whoop Ash—my intensemoisturizing cream.Belinda: And where did the nameWhoop Ash come from?Sheree: Actually, I started out withanother name and I was already inthe trade-marking process when theLord dropped the name Whoop Ashdown into my spirit. “Ash” is anAfrican American colloquialism fordry skin. But the technical termchemists use to refer to dry skin is“ashen,” so that’s where the word“ash” in the name comes from. Andthe Lord showed me the acronymWHOOP—Women Helping OthersObtain Power. Because of what Hehad been speaking to me abouthelping other women, I felt and Istill feel that the name was Godgiven.I knew in my heart thatWhoop Ash was supposed to be thename of my product and that it wasgoing to open the door for me tominister to people. At the time, Ididn’t understand why God wouldgive me that name. But do you knowwhat? The question I hear the mostwhen I talk about this product is,“How did you come up with thename?”It takes people like you, whoare willing to reach out andtouch somebody, to shareJesus with the world! The Bible saysthe fields are ripefor the harvest, but thelaborers are few(Luke 10:2).Lindsay: Exactly! That question isyour window of opportunity to reachout to others with the love of Godand minister to them, right wherethey are. It takes people like you,who are willing to reach out andtouch somebody, to share Jesus withthe world! The Bible says the fieldsare ripe for the harvest, but thelaborers are few (Luke 10:2). Sheree, you are a marvelous laborer, and Ipray that God continues to ministerto you and through you, in Jesus’name. Set Free from 20-Year Addiction! For twenty years, I battled a cocaine addictionthat was holding me back from serving God like Iwanted to. In 2008, I joined World Changers Church, pastored by Creflo and Taffi Dollar, but my addictioncontinued to control me, and it was getting worse. In September 2010, our church hosted a healingconference. I had never heard of Richard Roberts,Alexandra but I went to the conference and listened to himpreach, and then he laid hands on us. Deep inside myheart, I heard the Lord tell me, “I chose you, Alexandra. I chose you.”After the evening service, our pastor asked who wanted to plant a seed intoRichard’s ministry. I told God I would sow my last $10 into that offering becauseI could feel that He had touched me that night through Richard’s ministry. Ididn’t know exactly what happened inside me, but I knew God had donesomething in me!It was not until after the healing meeting ended that I realized I had been setfree. I had been delivered from a twenty-year cocaine addiction in a matter of a second. As of today, I have been clean and drug-free for over twenty months, andI now have a job as a substance abuse counselor. God has blessed me so much, and I am so grateful to Him and to Richard Roberts for praying for me.—Alexandra from New YorkIf you would like to see Alexandra’s Living Proof testimony, go to www.oralroberts.com/living-proof-video/living-proof-alexandra/Your miracle may be just a phone call away! When you need prayer, call the Abundant Life ® Prayer Groupat 918-495-7777, or log on to our website at www.oralroberts.com/prayer.We are here 24 hours a day, seven day a week to pray with you.

Overcomingthe Enemy’sStrategy ofOffenseGet Over ItBy Kate McVeighAs I travel all over the worldministering the Gospel, Ioften see people who havebeen hurt by others and, for onereason or another, have been unableto put that hurt behind them. Ibelieve unresolved hurt hinders theperson burdened by it from goingfurther in his or her walk with God.And many times I’ve seen hurtingpeople hurt other people. The onewho has been hurt may go on towound others in the same way he orshe has been wounded.A person who has been hurt bysomeone else’s actions has actuallybeen offended. The dictionary definesan offense as an act that causes anger, resentment, displeasure, or affront. Ithink it makes the devil happy whenhe can influence people to do thingsto offend other people. Perhaps that’sone of his main strategies against thebody of Christ. The devil likes to useoffense to separate and divide peoplefrom the very person or place thatcould possibly help them.In the Bible, David is a primeexample of someone who didn’tallow himself to become offended. And because he didn’t entertainthe bitterness and offense, Davidwas able to slay a giant and win amajor battle against the Philistines(1 Samuel 17:1–51).When David’s father sent himdown to the battlefield to take foodto his brothers who were preparingto fight, his older brother mockedhim for his youth and inexperience—potentially humiliating David infront of the whole army of Israel. But David let his brother’s wordsroll off him. Through his faith and14J A N U A R Y / F E B R U A R Y 2 0 1 3

obedience to God, David wasvictorious over the giant Goliath. What are the “giants” in yourlife? Are you facing a financialgiant or a giant of sickness anddisease? Perhaps your children orgrandchildren aren’t serving theLord. These and many otherproblems can seem like huge giantsin your life that require great faithto overcome. But no matter howready you are to stand in faith, Ibelieve you won’t completelyovercome your giant if youcontinue to hold on to offenses.Galatians 5:6 instructs us that faithworks by love. But unforgiveness—which is the opposite of walkingin God’s love—can stop the powerof God from f lowing to you andthrough you.God gave us His Word so wewould have a way out of everyoffending situation that could stealvictory from our lives. Jesus tells usin John 16:1, These things have I spokenunto you, that ye should not be offended. The Bible says God has given us theability to stand on His Word, to walkin love, and to avoid being taken inby offenses. But it’s still up to us touse what He’s given us. I believe wehave to absolutely refuse to hold onto offenses so we can be free. The Word says learning how tolive free from offense is simply a partof growing up in God and becominga mature Christian. By the power ofthe Holy Spirit living inside you, youcan walk in victory over offenses. Iencourage you to make the decisionthat from this day forward, you arenot going to miss out on what Godhas for you because of unforgivenessin your heart. Walk in the love of God,live in His peace, and believe you canbecome more than a conqueror overthe enemy’s strategy of offense!Prayer to Overcome OffenseFather, I choose to forgive those whohave hurt or offended me. I let it go andrelease any resentment I feel towardthem. I ask You to bless them in everyway today. I pray for their peace, happiness, and protection. And becauseI forgive those who have failed me insome way, Father, I believe that Youalso forgive me of my own shortcomings.By Your grace, I release all bitternessand anger, and I forgive all who mayhave wronged me, even as You forChrist’s sake have forgiven me. In Jesus’name, I pray. Amen. YDo you find that you are easily angered or hurt by otherpeople? Is it difficult for you to forgive someone who hasoffended you in some way? I believe God can set you freefrom all offense!
