Opening Doors and Hearts in Central AmericaEl SalvadorA “Party with Jesus”Richard was recently invited to help close out this massive final service ofUna Fiesta con Jesus—A Party with Jesus—in San Salvador, El Salvador.Pastor Edgar Lopez Bertrand, or “Brother Toby” as he is affectionatelyknown (shown here with Richard), asked Richard to come and help hiscountrymen receive salvation and other miracles from God at the festivalsponsored by his Baptist Bible Tabernacle, Friends of Israel Church.A major newspaper called the event “A Night of Faithand Hope,” and reported this highlight: “The mostpoignant moment of the night of Fiesta Con Jesus waswhen evangelist Dr. Richard Roberts prayed a prayerPresident Elias Antonio Saca, El Salvador’scurrent president, received Richard’s prayerfor his country.of peace for El Salvador and for healing over the congregation. In his prayer for peaceover the nation, he called up the President of the Republic, Elias Antonio Saca, tostand by his side.”With more than 100,000 people inside and surrounding the stadium, thousands accepted Jesus and manywere miraculously healed by the supernatural power of God. They had felt the presence of Jesus.’”Costa RicaHuge Response to Healing MessageA Sunday morning church service in the El Centro EvangelisticCenter in San José, Costa Rica, turned into a massive healingservice as Richard preached on how you can be healed. A waveof God’s healing power broke out across the church as hundredsof people came forward to report being healed.That evening Richard ministered in a large youth service. 6Who Are You, Really?If someone asked you who you are, you’d probablyhave a ready answer right on the tip of your tongue.You might mention where you came from and whatyou do for a living. Or you might describe your familyand heritage. For instance, I’d say, “My name isRichard Roberts. I’m a healing evangelist. My wife’sname is Lindsay. We have three daughters: Jordan,Olivia, and Chloe…” And all of those things are true.But as born-again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ,you and I are so much more than that! Over the years,I’ve learned that my very life depends not on knowingwho I am in the natural realm, but knowing whoI am in Christ. That means knowing who God says Iam, according to His Word.It’s crucial for us to understand and put our faith inour identity in Christ, because we live in a worldwhere trouble and trials abound. Thatmeans you’re an overcomer (Romans 8:37). You are thehead instead of the tail (Deuteronomy 28:13). You can enjoythe fat (the best) of the land (Genesis 45:18). You are ajoint heir with Jesus Christ Himself (Romans 8:17) of all thatis in the earth and all that is stored up for you in heaven.Because you are in Christ, you are a child of God (John1:12) and Jesus’ friend (John 15:15). You are a citizenof heaven (Philippians 3:20), seated with Christ in theheavenly realms (Ephesians 2:6). You are God’s temple (1Corinthians 3:16), God’s co-worker (1 Corinthians 3:9),and God’s workmanship (Ephesians 2:10).You have been bought with a price (1 Corinthians 6:19–20), redeemed and forgiven (Colossians 1:14), and set apartfor God (Ephesians 1:1). You are forever free from condemnation(Romans 8:1–2), established, anointed, and sealedby God (2 Corinthians 1:21–22).As a follower of Christ, you are the salt and light of the earth(Matthew 5:13–14), you have constant access to God throughthe Holy Spirit (Ephesians 2:18), and you are His ministersof reconciliation on this earth (2 Corinthians 5:17–21).Philippians 4:13 tells us that you and I can do all thingsthrough Christ who strengthens us, and Romans 8:37reminds us that we are more than conquerors through Himthat loved us. In Christ, you and I have all we need tolive a victorious life and all we need to live in a godlymanner (2 Peter 1:3). I believe that if we really wantto live in the victory God promises us in His Word,we need to renew our commitment to believing andliving out who we are in Christ.“Remind Them Who They Are”Recently, I was reading prayer requests our ministryhad received. People were expressing their desperateneeds and challenges. I prayed, “Lord, I knowYou are all powerful. You are the God of healing, theGod of restoration, the God Who provides more thanenough. Lord, give me the words to encourage thosewho are discouraged and to declare Your greatnessover their lives.”As I was waiting upon the Lord for His answer, I kepthearing the words, “Remind them who they are. Remindthem what is theirs. Remind them that I amhere, and that there is more than enough in Mystorehouse to meet and exceed their every need.Tell all who will listen that when I have met every needof every person who is called by My name, the river ofMy blessings will still flow because there is an endless supply!Tell them to leave the shore and step into My flow!”I tell you, on the authority of God’s Word, that our Godis the God of more than enough! He is not the God of justgetting by, or the God of minimums. In His presence,there is healing for our physical bodies, and restorationfor our relationships, finances, and more. He has morethan enough power and supply to meet every need.And why do we need more than enough? It’s becauseGod intends to do more than simply meet our ownpersonal needs (although, of course, God cares aboutour needs). But an exciting joy of the Christian life isfound in becoming a “pipeline” for the endless flowof God’s blessings to other people—so that all peoplemight come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior!Step Into the Flow of God’s VictoryNo matter what you’re facing, you can live fully inChrist—starting today! Remember, we always have achoice. We can believe and act on the power of whowe are in Christ, trusting in the God Who is morethan enough. Or we can forever walk in uncertainty,not trusting in our position in Christ, trading awayour authority in exchange for the devil’s doubts anddiscouragement.If you’re ready to make the commitment to believeand act on your identity in Christ, I encourage youto spend some time with God. Ask Him to point outthose areas where you can move more fully into whoyou are in Him. Give the Holy Spirit permission tohelp you grow in those areas.Then, take action in response to what God showsyou. Begin to see yourself as He sees you, do whatHe tells you, and allow miracles to become the normfor you as you walk in the understanding of youridentity in Christ.Never forget—regardless of where you are right now,God’s Word says He has more than enough for you.When you remember who you are in Christ and putaction with your faith, you can confidently watch Hisgood plan for your life unfold.Ask God to pointout those areas whereyou can movemore fully into whoyou are in Him.7Jan/Feb/Mar 2009

CanadaTHE POWER OF GODELECTRIFIES IN TORONTO“Let the preaching and the teaching of the Word be confirmed by miracles, signs, and wonders!”123With those words, Richard Roberts kicked off an explosiveMiracle Healing Rally at Queensway Cathedralin Ontario, Canada. Working together with Queensway’sPastor Billy Richard and an Oral Roberts Ministriesteam, Richard and Lindsay brought God’s healingpower to the people of Toronto.First, Lindsay encouraged those in attendance to fightthe good fight of faith, using the mighty, spiritualweapons God has given us in Christ. (See page 10 formore of this message, which Lindsay also shared in Nicaragua.)Then, in an auditorium charged with expectation,Richard took the stage to preach on the powerof God to heal.SENDING THE WORD FOR HEALINGKnowing it is important for people to build up their faithto receive healing, Richard began by teaching on God’shealing power with Psalm 107:20 nkjv, He sent His wordand healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Inhis message, Richard explained that God’s Word is designedto give health, restoration, and life to anyone whoreceives it.He then shared the story of the Roman centurion whocaused Jesus to marvel at his faith by believing Jesuswould heal his servant just by commanding it to happen.This soldier told Jesus, “I recognize Your authorityis above all authority. So you don’t have to physicallycome to my home. All you have to do is speak theword, and my aide will be healed.”HEALED IN A CLEAN SWEEPMiracles, signs, and wonders manifested mightilythroughout the Toronto crowd. Within minutes afterRichard and Lindsay began praying, a line of peoplecame forward to share how God had just healed them.Several people testified to receiving immediate healingfrom pain or other ailments. Among those who came forwardwas a woman who proclaimed, “I got a clean sweep!”She described several problems she had been having—astress fracture in her left foot, a frozen shoulder, backpain, and even cataracts. “I could hardly stand when Icame in tonight,” she shared, “but I can move now. Ihad disc problems, hip problems…It’s all gone. I caneven see better.”Another attendee’s ears were healed the moment he arrivedat the Healing Rally. Showing Richard and thecrowd his hearing aids, he said, “These two hearingaids have not been in my ears since the beginning ofthis service. It was a miracle not to use them,” he said.Perhaps the most amazing testimony of the night camefrom an older man attending the meeting with his family.Forty years earlier, he had been injured on the job,and his arm had atrophied as a result.“My shoulder and arm were bent for 40 years,” he toldthe crowd. “I couldn’t turn my arm around. Now I canbend it!” Excited, he showed everyone what he couldnow do because of God’s healing power, with his familythere to witness the miracle.471. As Richard lays his left hand on someone in prayer, as he did this man in Toronto, he often feelsthe “heat” of the Holy Spirit radiating through him for healing. 2. One woman came forward and toldhow she had experienced a “clean sweep” of healing—from a stress fracture in her left foot to a frozenshoulder, back pain and even cataracts. “It’s all gone!” she said. 3. God miraculously healed thisman’s ears as he walked into the Healing Rally. His hearing aids were no longer needed. 4. One ofthe most amazing testimonies came from a gentleman whose arm and shoulder had been bent froman injury 40 years earlier: “I couldn’t turn my arm around. Now I can bend it!” 5. In an electrifyingservice, Richard encouraged the hungry crowd to reach out and claim the miracles they needed. “Godis a healing God,” he proclaimed. “What He did in Bible days, He’s still doing these days.” 6. Not longafter Richard and Lindsay began praying for this woman and others, people came forward to sharehow God had healed them. 7. This partner from the Ontario area, Marg Parr, came to the HealingRally to seek more of God and to celebrate her testimony of stomach healing she has shared on ThePlace for Miracles TV program. 8. Richard and Lindsay lead a prayer of salvation at the altar call.56Through his faith, the soldier received exactly what heasked for. His servant was healed that very same moment.And Jesus was thrilled at the soldier’s faith, sayingin Luke 7:9 nkjv, “I have not found such great faith,not even in Israel!”The evening’s message reminded everyone that God isready and willing to pour out His healing power today,just as He promised He would in Psalm 107:20. Andby the time Richard finished sharing God’s Word, theaudience at Queensway Cathedral was ready to receivewhat God had for them.Even after the service officially closed, peoplestreamed down to the front to share how God hadhealed them that night or through another outreachof Oral Roberts Ministries…a man set free from cripplingback problems...a woman healed of skin cancer…aman whose HIV diagnosis had been medicallyreversed…and many others.As Richard noted, God is in the business of doingmiracles. “God is a healing God,” he told the Torontocrowd. “What He did in Bible days, He’s still doingthese days.” And that is truly good news!Jan/Feb/Mar 20098 8 9

NicaraguaGod’s MightyWeaponsB Y L I N D S A Y R O B E R T SRecently, Lindsay ministered at a women’sconference in Nicaragua. Her message offers apowerful reminder that no matter what the devilthrows at us, we have mighty weapons in Christto help us win our battles.Whatever we may find ourselves fighting againstin life, we need to recognize the real source of ourtroubles. No matter how it may seem to us, our strugglesare not truly about people, politics, economics,or anything else in the natural realm. According toEphesians 6:12, our true battle is a spiritual fight, andthe one we’re fighting against is the devil.The good news for us as Christians is that our fighthas been “fixed,” because Jesus already won it for uson the Cross. He defeated Satan and his demons onceand for all and even shamed them publicly by his victoryover them on the cross (Colossians 2:14).The devil knowshe has been defeated.But whileyou and I are livingon this earth,he will continueto try and harassLindsay prays for a conference attendee. and intimidate usinto living a lifeof discouragement and defeat, because He knows howmuch God loves us.Lindsay Roberts preaches in Nicaragua.We must fight back. But we are not alone in this spiritualbattle, and as long as we fight with the spiritualweapons God has given us, according to 2 Corinthians10:4-5, we can make the victory Jesus accomplishedfor us a reality in our lives…for the weaponsof our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pullingdown strongholds…and every high thing that exalts itselfagainst the knowledge of God.The weapons that defeat the devil don’t come fromour human flesh, our intellect, or our emotions. Theyare spiritual. They come from God.Recognizing Our EnemyThe devil’s attack can come at us in many ways. Attimes, it’s like a saw. Relationships may be severed, orwe may lose our job. At other times, the enemy’s assaultis like a hammer. We feel as though we’re takingone hit after another. And sometimes, the devil worksto tie us up in emotional knots. Instead of walking inpeace, joy, and hope, we feel anxious and stressed.What are the spiritual weapons that we can use inthis spiritual battle so that we don’t miss out on themiracles God is trying to send our way? I believe fiveof the most important weapons we have availableto us through Jesus’ death and resurrection are:• The seeds we plant• Prayer• Praise and worship• The words we speak• ForgivenessUsing Mighty Weapons to Fight1. Planting your seed. In Malachi 3:10, God tells usto “bring the tithes and offerings in and I will rebukethe devourer.” Giving God your tithes and offerings—through your local church, through a ministry you knowand trust, or any place where you’re being fed the Wordof God—is not just a good idea; it gives you a Bibleguarantee that the devil will be rebuked in your life.In one Bible translation, devourer means “flesh-eatingdestroyer.” Is the devil trying to destroy you with sicknessand disease, a financial problem, or something in yourfamily? When you sow your seed and aim it as a weaponagainst the devil, you have a Bible right for the devourerto be rebuked and for your life to be made whole again.2. Prayer. Have you ever seen someone aim a gunat a target they wanted to hit? To hit the target, youhave to aim correctly. Have you been praying in fear?Or have you been praying in a way that can be “powerfuland effective,” as James 5:16 tells us. When youpray, you can use that time to cry and complain beforethe Lord. Or you can do what God told me to do andmake your prayers a “battle cry” before Him, aimingyour prayer like a gun at the devil’s targets.The next time you pray, you can say, “I aim thisprayer against disease, against poverty, or againstwhatever is trying to destroy my family.” Then attachyour faith to it. And, in the name of Jesus, prayer likethat can help defeat the devil’s plans in your life.3. Praise and worship. Psalm 22:3 tells us that Godinhabits, or lives and dwells in, the praises of His people.Instead of praising God in the midst of our struggles,too often we whine, gripe, and complain instead.But when we begin to praise and worship Him, to inviteHim to come into our situation and take over, theatmosphere changes. now, begin to say, “Praise You, Lord. I worship You,Lord. Thank You, Lord, for what You’re doing in mylife.” And as you do, watch the atmosphere in your lifebegin to change. James 4:7 says when you resist theEnemy, he will flee.4. Your words. If you begin to claim sickness, disease,and poverty, don’t be surprised when they becomeyour best friends! According to Romans 4:17, we havea Bible right to do exactly what God does, Who callsthose things which do not exist as though they did.If you’re sick, begin to say, “By the stripes of Jesus,I am healed and whole” (1 Peter 2:24). If you needmoney, begin to say, “My God shall supply all myneed according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus”(Philippians 4:19). If you’re facing any kind of challenge,begin to say, “I can do all things through Christwho strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).Be careful what you say. Your words can be a powerfulweapon that you use either against yourself, oragainst your enemy, the devil. So line up your wordsto match the Word of God.5. Forgiveness. One of the best weapons you’llever have is forgiving your enemies. In Matthew 5:44Jesus said, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecuteyou. When we hold bitterness and unforgivenessin our hearts, it torments us. Letting it go may notchange the other person, but it will change you. Wedon’t have to approve of what they did, but focusingon what God tells us to do by forgiving those whohave hurt us sets us free and takes away the devil’spower to torment us.Keeping Our Focus on GodI believe that the key to living a victorious life is tokeep our focus on God, rather than on our problems.Our Heavenly Father, for whom nothing is impossible,loves us and shows us in His Word time andagain what He can do when we keep Him at the verycenter of our lives. And when we’re weary or temptedto give up, we must keep on fighting the good fight offaith by using the mighty weapons God has given us.Above all, remember that on the other side of everystruggle we endure is a miracle with our name on it.God’s Power Is “Present to Heal” YouB Y L I N D S A Y R O B E R T SWhen I was in Nicaragua to speak atthe Deborah Conference, we heardthat Cathy Lechner was also going tobe a speaker. I had followed Cathy’sministry for some time and was thrilledto be speaking with her as part of thesame conference for the women ofCentral America.Cathy LechnerI had just finished preaching and went upstairs tochange. Earlier, Richard had run into Cathy Lechnerin the lobby of our hotel. He had never met Cathybefore, but Cathy felt led to introduce herself toRichard.The mother of seven children, Cathy had injuredher back and knees before the Conference and wasin so much pain that she had seriously consideredcancelling her speaking engagement. But instead,she decided to go to the Conference and to plantthe pain she was having as a seed of her faith forGod to heal her.Late the next night, Richard and our team went toCathy’s room to pray for her. Richard told me later thatas soon as he began to pray for Cathy, he felt heat radiatingthrough his hands, and he knew that the powerof the Lord was present to heal, just as it had been inLuke 5:17–20.That passage tells how a sick man was healed whenhis four friends lowered him down through a hole inthe roof of the building to where Jesus was ministering.There were so many people they couldn’t getto Him any other way. Jesus saw the faith of the fourfriends (v. 20), and the man who couldn’t walk wasable to get up and go home, made whole by the powerof God that was present to heal.As Richard prayed for Cathy that day in Nicaragua,she felt the heat go into her knees! By Richard’s instructionsshe began to dance and praise God, asshe was being gloriously healed by the power of Godthat was present to heal her that day.I believe the Bible when it says God is present toheal. According to Acts 10:34, God is no respecterof persons. What He has done for Cathy and millionsof others, I believe He can do for you. Butat 25, my miracle finally came. That’s when I grabbedhold of I Peter 2:24 and learned that by the stripes ofJesus Christ, I could be healed.I started confessing that Word over my life. At first,there was no change at all, but the more I confessedthat Scripture, the more it penetrated my heart. Andone day I heard the Holy Spirit say to me, “You cannotfeel sorry for yourself and get healed at the sametime.” I was so convicted in my heart! The self-pityI’d been embracing was revealed that day.The day I was healed from shame was the day I hearda preacher speak about what Jesus had already done forme. Christ took my shame on the Cross and gave meHis glory. What a trade! That day, God gave me a visionof myself—as He saw me—in junior high, highschool, college, and my young adult years. He showedme walking around with the attitude that I was asgood as everyone else, with no cloud of shame overmy life. Jesus Christ came to make you whole—toheal you from your head to your feet, insideand outside, and to make you a new creature.Will You Be Made Whole?A C L A S S I C M E S S A G E B Y O R A L R O B E R T SWhen Jesus healed people, He often came to themwith the question, “Will you be made whole?” WhenHe ministered, He touched every phase of the individual’slife, so when He finished working with a person,that person could say, “I am whole.”A whole healing is a complete healing—spirit, soul,and body. Our eyes can see only our human flesh,which is actually just our physical house. But thereis so much more to you and me. When Jesus heals uscompletely, our spirits are renewed, our bodies arehealed, and our minds are transformed. Never doubtthe power of your faith in Jesus Christ to make you awhole person.Healing—inside and outJohn 5 tells us that Jesus went to the pool of Bethesda,where He found a large multitude of sick people.Among them was a man who had been lying there,crippled, for 38 years. The man believed in a legendthat said an angel would come at a certain season ofthe year and stir up the water. Whoever was fortunateenough to get in the water first would be healed.Jesus asked the man, “Will you be made whole?” Theman thought Jesus was merely talking about his physicalbody getting a physical healing when the angelstirred the waters. So the man said, “I don’t have aman to put me in the water.”But when Jesus said, “Will you be made whole,” Hewas also talking to the man inside the body, made inthe image of God. He was talking to every part ofhim—spirit, mind, and body.You’ve got to have JesusThis man’s problem was a problem many peopleface—they don’t “have a man.” They may have ideasor a philosophy, and some of them have a religion. Butthey don’t have the man who matters most—Jesus.Once I was ministering to a gentleman who neededhealing. He said, “I don’t know much about JesusChrist and all that business.” Yet he wanted JesusChrist to heal him. I had to get his thinking turnedaround, to get him to quit thinking about his bodylong enough to think about the Man, Jesus.The disabled man at the pool told Jesus, “Others getthere before me.” He began to blame other people. We’reall prone to do this.The most difficult thing you and I will ever do inlife is look in the mirror and say, “You’re the man.”“You’re the woman.” We’re always looking at somebodyelse. Others get in our way and we think, Well,this fellow did this, and because he did, I’m not going toget my deliverance, as if that had anything to do withit—but it really doesn’t! If everybody in the wholeworld got in your way and God turned His back andwas walking away, you could still get down on yourhands and knees, crawl behind Him, reach out atrembling hand, touch the hem of His garment, andget healed.The man at the pool had many excuses:“I have not a man.”“Someone gets in my way.”“I’ve been here 38 years.”“It’s too late; I’m too old.”But Jesus looked the man squarely in the eyes and refusedto accept a single excuse. Instead, He told theman, “Rise, take up your bed, and walk.”“Rise”—what did Jesus mean? Well, we immediatelythink of the man’s body getting up. But is that whatJesus meant? Remember that He asked, “Will yoube made whole?” Wasn’t He talking to the spirit ofthe man who lived in that body? He meant, “You’relying down inside. Rise! Stand up! Stand up on theinside!”God made people to walk upright, inside and out.That’s why it’s important to respond when Jesus says,“Rise, take up your bed.” The bed had been carryingthis man for 38 years. Jesus said, “It’s been carryingyou. Now you carry it.”What is our bed? It depends on who we are. Ourbed is often simply our attitude. For instance, peoplewho are filled with self-pity might say, “Everybody’sagainst me. Nobody likes me. Everything wrong happensto me.” That’s the bed they’re carrying around.Jesus says, “Take up that bed.” And He wouldn’t sayto take it up if we couldn’t.For others, their bed might be hostility toward otherpeople. They may like dogs, or cats, or things, butthey don’t like people. That’s the bed they’re lying on,an attitude of hostility. It’s the inner man despising anotherman made in God’s image, and that’s violatingthe commandment to love one another. That’s a bed,and we have to pick it up. Whatever bed is holdingyou down, Jesus says, “Take up that bed and walk.”It’s time to walkIf You Need Healing, Do These Things by Oral RobertsOne of the first books ever written by Oral Roberts, thistimeless message is still a powerful tool to help you learnhow to release your faith for healing! $7Why didn’t Jesus say “walk” when He first startedtalking to the man at the pool? Instead, He first said,“Will you be made whole?”Jesus first deals with us where we are. To be healed,we have to be healed inside, and then we can behealed outside. Jesus came to heal the whole person,not the disease only. If He were to heal the diseasewithout healing the person, it wouldn’t be a completehealing.When the man was healed, Jesus said, “Don’t sin anymore.”In other words, “Don’t lie back down.” Thismeans, become God-conscious. Don’t practice lying downinside, or withdrawing from the human race, or reducingyour world to the size of your bed. Take up yourbed so that you can be made whole—inside and out.Friend, let me encourage you today with these words:Don’t lie back down. Don’t get back in the old attitude.Don’t withdraw from people.
