Staying in God’sSecret Placeby Lindsay RobertsHe that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide underthe shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge andmy fortress: my God; in him will I trust. —Psalm 91:1–2 KJVPsalm 91 is a beautiful passageof Scripture, showing whatwe might call the allencompassingprotection that Godmakes known to His children.According to this Psalm, Hisprotection is available to us morning, noon, and night, in sickness andhealth, in good times, in challengingtimes, no matter what we may befacing. I believe the Word of Godmakes it clear that we can alwayscall on Him; we can always applyHis Word according to the faith inour heart. Now, I personally find it such arelief to know, without a doubt, thatthe Lord desires to keep my familyand me under His shadow or spiritualcovering. But I want to draw yourattention to something importantthat I believe we are called to do ifwe want to take part in what Godhas for us in Psalm 91. We have apart to play if we want to tap intothe Word available to us, according4J U LY / A U G U S T / S E P T E M B E R 2 0 1 3

to these verses. And we can see whatour responsibility is by breaking downa few of the wordsin Psalm 91:1–2.First of all, Ibelieve that if wewant to have theAlmighty God’s protective powerworking for ourselves and our lovedones, then we need to pay attentionto His instruction to abide underHis shadow. So, let’s consider thisquestion: What does it mean to abidein Him?Well, the word abide means to “livein, remain, and find rest and peace.”That leads me to believe that abidingin the Lord isn’t something we doon a casual basis, once in a while,half-heartedly. Rather, I believeit is something that we diligently, fervently choose to do every day. Inthe face of difficult people, confusingsituations, stressful emotions, evilreports, financial distress, or any ofthe other issues of life that can getus overwhelmed, it’s important todecide daily to remain in faith, plantedfirmly in what God’s Word says tous. And as we stay put in God bycontinuing to pray, praise, worship, speak His Word, believe His Word, release our faith and expect a miracleover our situation, He can cover uswith His protective shadow, coveringus like a shade keeps us safe from theburning sun in the heat of summer.Second, Psalm 91 points out thesafekeeping that we can rest in as wetrust God and declare His promisesThe Lord desires to be ourrefuge and our strong tower.as a confession of our faith. Whenwe trust in the Lord, we “haveconf idence” inHim—we canhave peace inthe midst of anystorm, becausewe’re connected to His protectivepower according to the Bible. Wecan trust in Him completely, aswe abide in Him according to HisWord: The Lord is faithful, who willestablish you and guard you from theevil one (2 Thessalonians 3:3).Psalm 46:1 says, God is our refugeand strength, a very present help introuble. That’s an important promisebecause the world seems to be fullof trouble. In fact, in John 16:33Jesus says, “In the world you will havetribulation; but be of good cheer, I haveovercome the world.”How important it can be these daysto be connected to the One who hasovercome the troubles of this world.I encourage you to make that choiceto connect with God every day, asoften as it comes to mind. As youopen your life to God’s Word andHis promises to care for you, you canbegin to see situations turn aroundfor your good! Recently on Make Your Day Count, Lindsay and her good friend BrendaKunneman, co-pastor with her husband Hank of Lord of Hosts Churchin Omaha, Nebraska, were sharing the story of how they met and howthe Lord began to create a godly friendship between them.DivineConnectionsBRENDA: You know, Lindsay, theway we met makes me think aboutdivine relationships. And I really think we shouldexpect more of these God-givenrelationships as we are entering intothis new season that God is giving usright now. I believe we should expectHim to set up divine connections inthis hour. I believe it is necessary.LINDSAY: You’ve hit on the rightword—necessary. You know, theBible talks about iron sharpeningiron (Proverbs 27:17). All right, let’sthink about this. If we could tiptoethrough the tulips and live a gloriouslife where nothing bad ever happensand we don’t need our Bible, then inall honesty, who would need Jesus? But the Bible says that when youare in Christ, the thief, or the devil, comes to steal, to kill and to destroy(John 10:10). He doesn’t go after hisown; he goes after those in Christ.BRENDA: Yes. That’s right.LINDSAY: The devil wants to destroy, and he walks around as a roaringlion seeking whom he may devour(1 Peter 5:8). So, at times, Christiansmay face attack, and when thathappens, the Bible clearly talks aboutChristians going back to our owncompany for restoration (Acts 4:23).BRENDA: Yes!LINDSAY: So, whether somethinghappens in our family, our finances, our emotions, or any other area ofour lives… when we are attackedspiritually, we have to have a place togo where we share the same beliefs.I believe that place of safety andrestoration can be fulfilled by ourgodly friends, our divine connections.BRENDA: I’m sensing in my spiritthat God is saying this to Hischildren: “Begin to expect divineappointments, divine connections, and things are going to be divinelyarranged.” It was just like whenNicodemus met Jesus by night,10J U LY / A U G U S T / S E P T E M B E R 2 0 1 3

make a connection, or we try tomanipulate a connection. But Godhas all the right connections! If we’lltrust Him and allow Him to directus, we can follow His leading to theright people at the right time for Godto meet our needs.BRENDA: Lindsay, you said that weneed to be equally yoked, and weneed people wholift us up spiritually, people who willpray for us. But youknow, a friendshipthat you have withsomebody may bebased simply oncommon interests… You might bothlike the same TV shows or the sameactivities, and that is wonderful. Butthat doesn’t mean it will build youup in the Lord. And right now, inthese perilous times, we need peoplewho are going to build us up in theLord, not just be our friend becausewe share a common interest.I know so many Christians whoare hung up over these types offriendships with people. And I haveto ask them sometimes, how muchhas that person really prayed for you? When you get together, do you evertalk the Word of God? Is the Wordcoming out of their heart and life andmouth?LINDSAY: And are they even onthe same wavelength, so to speak, spiritually?BRENDA: That’s right. And anybodycan talk a great Christian lingo talk.12J U LY / A U G U S T / S E P T E M B E R 2 0 1 3We’re in a timewhere relationshipsare so important…But do they really live the Word ofGod?LINDSAY: Do they have the fruit?BRENDA: In Matthew 7:16–17, Jesussaid, “You’ll know a good tree bythe fruit it bears.” And right now, there are a lot of people who are justtalking. But Jesus didn’t say you’llknow them by what they say. Hesaid, you’ll knowthem by what theydo—by their fruit.their words.LINDSAY: We mustwatch their fruit. Wehave to see if theiractions line up withBRENDA: Lindsay, I believe we’rein a time where relationships are soimportant—divine connections thatGod wants to bring. But we have tobe discerning. We have to learn tojudge a tree by the fruit that it bears.I encourage you to trust God to leadyou, and ask Him to guide you intothe right relationships that He hasestablished for you.LINDSAY: Yes! And I want to juststop and pray:Heavenly Father, we know thatfriendships are very important, and weknow that You want us to have godlyconnections and friendships. We askYou to divinely connect us with the rightpeople—the people who will lift us up,the people who will sharpen us as ironsharpens iron, according to Proverbs27:17. And we give You all the thanksand praise, in Jesus’ name. Amen. Y

my seed-faith miracle inheritanceIheardRichard Roberts teaching about the Deuteronomy 1:11 blessing whilewatching The Place For Miracles, and I knew I wanted to get involved. A fewdays after I planted my offering into the Oral Roberts Ministries, someonecame up to me at a coffee shop and gave me $100. I knew then that seed-sowingworks!I continued to tithe into ORM every month, even though I was in debt. But Itrusted the Bible and Malachi 3 where it says that when I tithe, God will openthe windows of Heaven and pour out His blessings on me.Throughout 2012 and 2013, I continued to tithe and give my seed-faith offerings, and I saw God do many miracles in my life. I was healed of a growth inside myleft ear after I heard Richard give a word of knowledge from God on TV. I claimedthat word for myself, and a few days later, the growth was gone. I was also healedof a bleeding ulcer after praying and believing God and using a prayer cloth. The most amazing miracle came after my Aunt in Vancouver passed away, and Ilearned that she had left me an inheritance of $50,000. Because of her generousgift, I was able to pay off all my debt, and my Mom and I are nowable to keep our house. Entering intoWORSHIPRecently, Jordan Robertsinterviewed Javen, an awardwinningrecording artist and worldrenownedmusic director, whosenew album Worship In The Nowdebuted at #12 on the BillboardTop Gospel Album Chart.JORDAN: Javen, we are so glad tohave you here. You are an extremelytalented worshipper, and your musichas really blessed me.JAVEN: Thank you.JORDAN: So, your newest album hasjust come out, right?JAVEN: Yes—it’s called Worship in theNow. It’s a live praise and worshipCD that I’m extremely excitedabout!JORDAN: Great! Tell us a little aboutthe inspiration behind this album.JAVEN: After having sung for somany years, being a former worshipleader down in Florida and nowliving in Los Angeles, and thendoing movies and doing all kinds ofdifferent things in the entertainment16J U LY / A U G U S T / S E P T E M B E R 2 0 1 3industry as a writer and a producer,I really believe that worship is oneof the most powerful weapons that abeliever can possess.JORDAN: Absolutely.JAVEN: And so, as my team and Ibegan to put together this project,we just decided to do an album thatwould have songs that are vertical—that go straight up and talk to God,and love on the Lord, and bringpeople into an experience withthe Holy Spirit. And as we’ve donethat, I believe we captured a powerpackedalbum of 16 songs that willreally change people’s lives.

JORDAN: I really felt your heart forworship as I was listening to youralbum. You know, I’ve listened toa lot of singers, and sometimes itcan be more of a performance, andthat’s fine. But when you hear theheart of a true worshipper, and youfeel their heart for the Lord, youcan connect to God in a differentway, which is what it’s really about. It’s not about the performance; it’sabout an experience with the Lord.JAVEN: That’s what worship means.Worship is about being open andwilling to trust God. So, if you’rein a position where you don’t knowwhat to do, and you can’t find theanswers for finances, or for healing,or for whatever it might be, startworshipping. Then, God can comein and change things!JORDAN: That’s right. My Dadalways says that worship sets theatmosphere for miracles. And thatcould mean a miracle in any part ofyour life. The Lord knows what youneed, so as you set the atmospherefor that, then He can do the divinework in your life.JAVEN: Amen.JORDAN: You know, as you weresinging earlier, I was just standingthere listening and I was like, gloryto God! Hallelujah! It made mewant to worship too.JAVEN: That’s right. That’s what it’ssupposed to do!JORDAN: All of a sudden, I foundmyself in the presence of God, andthat’s what I like the most aboutWorship is about being openand willing to trust God.your music.JAVEN: The Bible says that no mancomes to God unless the Spirit drawshim (John 6:44). And so, when weusher in an atmosphere of worshiplike this, it calls for the Spirit of Godto show up. That’s why I always tryto tell people to sing with us.JORDAN: Absolutely.JAVEN: Even if you’re watching atelevision show like The Place forMiracles or Make Your Day Countand there is worship going on, Iencourage you to sing along. Even ifyou’re sitting on your couch, it doesn’tmatter; start singing—because whenyou do that, the presence of Godcan come in and things can startchanging in your life.JORDAN: Amen.
