A photograph of the Amaranth is shown on the front page, registered INS 287.4CSE CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION - This is a new qualification which a numberof youngsters will receive this year. This adds to the existing Higher and O Gradequalification and is being introduced into more than 30 secondary schoolsthroughout Grampian this year. Although the CSE was initially designed for about30% of the pupils, i.e. those seen as being less able, academically, more andpupils have been following this course. Although in recent years only a few schoolsin Scotland have offered CSE courses they are already well tried in England andWales. The work was marked internally with Moderators going round the variousschools vetting the marks that teachers had given their pupils. Sample paperswere then taken and presented in front of a Board that included Headteachers.
