I am committed to continuing our work to build up astrong union able to protect members against attacks from the anti-worker WorkChoicesLegislation <strong>and</strong> anti-union employers.For the past four (4) years we have restructured the Divisions, increased workplacedelegates <strong>and</strong> activists, improved union training <strong>and</strong> provided support <strong>and</strong> resources foron the job campaigns.What has been achieved?• Collective enterprise agreements negotiated in the public <strong>and</strong> private sectors.• Ensured private sector rail operators enterprise agreements improved wages.• Increased <strong>and</strong> trained workplace delegates <strong>and</strong> activists to better organise at the workplace.• Vigorously defended members before the Transport Appeal Board <strong>and</strong> Industrial Tribunalsin unfair dismissal matters.• Improved RTBU’s legal capacity by employing a lawyer in the RTBU National Office.• Campaigned <strong>and</strong> rallied against WorkChoices Legislation.• Defended RTBU members when being attacked by the State Government.Provided legal representation for members involved in the Waterfall Inquiry.I will continue to assist <strong>and</strong> work with all Divisions towards a stronger RTBU.
