I have always been a member <strong>of</strong> the RTBU. I have been actively involved inthe struggle on behalf <strong>of</strong> the disadvantaged <strong>and</strong> have successfully represented all whohave approached me with grievances.Shan RathinamI held the following positions: Sydney No 1 Sub- Division (1994); Vice President,Metropolitan Guards Committee (1999); President <strong>of</strong> Sydney (1999) <strong>and</strong> BranchDivisional Delegate (1998-1999) representing Station Staff, Signallers, Area Controllers,on Board Services Staff, Shunters <strong>and</strong> Train Guards; Vice President Central Sub- Division(2000-2002) <strong>and</strong> subsequently Central Sub- Division President <strong>and</strong> Delegate to BranchCouncil-Metro. Electric Train Drivers OH & S Committee Representative (2001-present)<strong>and</strong> part <strong>of</strong> the in re-furbishing team for Central’s crew amenities.I have <strong>and</strong> will continue to scrutinized Diagrams <strong>and</strong> Rosters to ensure award/agreementconditions are applied fairly <strong>and</strong> equally. I was an acting Payroll Liaison Officer duringthe 1998 payroll dispute <strong>and</strong> continue to address member’s interests.My mission is to ensure job security, the welfare <strong>of</strong> members, to protect <strong>and</strong> improveworking conditions <strong>and</strong> wages, <strong>and</strong> policing to see nothing is taken away from us withoutconsultation.If elected my voice will reflect the opinion <strong>of</strong> members <strong>and</strong> will be to build up Solidarity<strong>and</strong> I will lead from the front as currently do now.
