I am st<strong>and</strong>ing for theposition <strong>of</strong> National secretary.What we’ve achieved since 2005Bob Hayden• A National Union aligned to the needs <strong>of</strong> our branches <strong>and</strong> membership resulting in a10% increase in membership this year This fantastic <strong>and</strong> unprecedented growth is asign that YOUR National Union <strong>and</strong> its State Branches are working as a team focusedon our collective struggles both now <strong>and</strong> into the future..• Campaigning in the “Your Rights at Work” movement to put an end to these antiworker “no choices” laws introduced by the Howard Government.• Managing ourselves more efficiently to put more resources into winning for ourmembers. For the first time in our union’s history we have an in house IndustrialLawyer to help members <strong>and</strong> branches, plus we have employed a second organiser tohelp co-ordinate our National campaigning efforts on the ground where it countsIf successful in winning the election next year, I will focus on assisting the NationalDivisions to become more active, <strong>and</strong> work with them as we are now doing with theNational Tram & Bus Division, to develop national st<strong>and</strong>ards <strong>of</strong> rates <strong>and</strong> conditions,determined by the Divisions, through the decision making bodies <strong>of</strong> their State Branches<strong>and</strong> the National Council / Executive.At a time when working families <strong>and</strong> their unions are facing unprecedented challengesfrom a hostile Howard Government, <strong>and</strong> employers who would like to take advantage <strong>of</strong>the ‘Workchoices’ laws, I seek your support for the current team <strong>of</strong> National Officers,who, together with State Branches are committed to ‘growing’ RTBU strength innumbers <strong>and</strong> in industrial <strong>and</strong> financial organisation.We need to ‘secure’ the union <strong>and</strong> its members <strong>and</strong> to do that we need a focussed,united <strong>and</strong> experienced team.
