He fell from the top of the building, but miraculously survived. He claimed thathe had been kidnapped and set up by the real killer, who earlier the same day shot dead both hisparents. His sister, Fiona, said she heard a stranger in the house. However, the eye-witnessevidence against Mackenzie was strong, he was found guilty and now languishes in prison, stillprotesting his innocence. Mel’s suspicions about Boyd have been deepening as he continues towithhold vital new evidence from the squad. Is he letting his feelings get the better of hisimpartiality? She removes the cassette from his office and takes it with her to discuss the matterwith Grace.

Episode Three & Four – WALKING ON WATER Parts 1 & 2Boyd and Silver find themselves involved in a cold case when Frankie gives evidence at theappeal for convicted killer Mark Lovell. Eleven years ago, Mark was jailed for the murder of hisadopted father, Thomas Lovell. Neither the family’s fishing boat nor Mark’s mother, sister or niecehave been seen since his father’s death. Boyd believes the only way to find the killer is to discoverwhat happened to the rest of the family. The original investigation team seem unwilling to cooperateso Boyd and his team take on the mystery. Following the murder of Mark Lovell's cousin,the team establish that Mark has a watertight alibi. The search for the real murderer narrows downto the remaining family members. The discovery of drug-running deals and witness protectionmuddies the waters of the investigation.Episode Five & Six – BREAKING GLASS Parts 1 & 2The team is faced with a highly disturbing case of murder and child abuse in a children’s home.When Dr Laurie Poole barges into Boyd’s office, she claims to have new information which willshed light on the abuse and disappearance of two boys. Boyd reluctantly takes on theinvestigation and soon realizes that there is a lot more to it than first meets the eye. The team areracing against the clock as they try to establish the identity of the care-home paedophilicmurderer. Meanwhile, he is being hunted down by two of his victims: Tanner, the dead boy’s twinbrother, and another former resident who was abused.Episode Seven & Eight – FINAL CUT Parts 1 & 2Mel’s celebrations at being promoted to sergeant are cut short when a mummified body isdiscovered in a garbage bin. As the team begins to dissect the remains, looking for clues to thevictim’s identity, an anonymous call leads them to a house in Notting Hill which featured in a GerryRaistrick’s controversial Sixties film about gang warfare. The gangster responsible for the bodiesbehind the walls in the Notting Hill house is still active today and the unearthing of past eventsprovokes more murders and an international turf war.
