M.Phil.PLACEMENT DAYThe Placement Day at the depar tment level was organized on the 28 th of February, 2012 for the final U.G and P.G students of both shift 1 and shift 2. Mr.Praweesh Kumar, Director, Covenant Consultants, took the responsibility to equip our students with the skills necessary for campus recruitment with a preplacementtraining module.Consultant firms like Covenant Consultants, Enlist Consultancies and HConvenor actively participated in the recruitment process and around 46 of ourstudents were recruited as HR Personnel, around 25 short listed for placements in popular MNCs, 8 recruited for Corporate Sales for Aircel and Vodafone and 2recruited for Financial Instruments Sales.RTT News, a prominent business newsletter firm has short listed around 27 of our students for the post of correspondents and is in the process ofconducting telephonic interviews for the short listed students and the list of successful students will be intimated in a week’s time.THOUDAM DAVID ENDOWMENT LECTUREThe Thoudam David Endowment Lecture, in memory of Late. Thoudam David, a former student of our department, was organized on the 7 th of March 2012.It is customary to invite prominent speakers in the field of Economics to deliver lectures on topics of current relevance.This year the department was lucky enough to invite Shri. The annual depar tmental magazine ‘Oikonomikos’ took a new turn this academic year by establishing itself with an identity. The department was successfulin securing an ISSN for oikonomikos this year and it was released on the ay of the Thoudam David Endowment Lecture. Shri. A. Rangachari released the journaland handed over the first copy to Prof.T.
