Shift-II inaugurated their association on 05.08.2011 at the Lawrence Sundaram Auditorium. Theceremony was presided over by Dr. Thilagavathi, Deputy Director, ICMR.In Shift-I the association had its election for the office bearers on 22 nd of August 2011 and results were declared on the same day. The inauguration of theassociation was organized on 24 th of August 2011 at the Lawrence Sundaram Auditorium, presided over by Rev. Dr. Joseph T. Xavier.S.J, former Principal. Theceremony had the formal oath taken by the office bearers and the annual plan proposal done.RURAL CAMPAn integral part of the curriculum for the first year students is the “Rural Camp” conducted in the most backward and neglected areas of the state, this yearShift-I students attended their 10 days rural camp at Deviyananthal, Villupuram District from 16.08.2011 to 26.08.2011. Prof. Mary Jessi Rani & Prof. EdwardSudhakar were the staff- In-charge who accompanied the students and Shift-II-students under the guidance Prof. Susai raj, Prof. Lavanya & Prof. Simon Josephorganised their rural camp at Gedilam, Villupuram District.TEACHERS’ DAY CELEBRATION:For students, Teacher’s Day is an occasion to pay reverence and gratitude to teachers for their selfless effort in shaping their career and enriching theeducation system in the process. The Teacher’s Day celebration was celebrated on September 5 th 2011 respectively by both the shifts.STUDY TOURShift- I students accompanied by Prof. Kirubakaran and Prof. John Paul organised their Study tour visits to Delhi for 10 days as part of their curriculum.Shift- II- Students accompanied by Prof. Vincent Vijayaraj & Prof. Arul Kamaraj organised the study tour to Delhi for 10 days as part of their curriculum.South Zone Social Work Educator’s MeetThe Department organised the first of its kind – a Network Meet among Social Work Educators of South Zone in the month of September. The Meet wasorganised in collaboration with Tata Institute of Social Sciences, MumbaiSEMINAR ON COUNSELING:Two seminars on counseling were organized by the association on December 7 th and 10 th of 2011.
