OPERATION 66.1 OPERATIONPre–operation CheckVisually check all moving parts and all fasteners. If looseor broken, tighten or replace. Check tines and replace ifbent or broken.Check tire pressure. Inflate to maximum pressure indicatedon tire for best performance and ease of operation.Lubricate all fittings with a standard lithium based lubricantbefore initial operation and after every four hours ofoperation. Wipe off fittings before and after lubricating.With unit in a level position, check engine crankcase andgear reduction case oil levels. Fill as needed followingengine manufacturer’s recommendations for oil type andamount.!WARNINGGasoline is extremely flammable and highlyexplosive under certain conditions. Alwaysstop the engine and DO NOT smoke or allowopen flames or sparks near unit when refueling.Never start or run the engine inside whereexhaust fumes can collect. Carbon monoxidepresent in the exhaust is an odorless anddeadly gas.Do not operate unit without shields in place.Do not make adjustments or perform any maintenancewhile engine is running.Before operating the unit, check the area to beaerated for any objects that may present asafety hazard or damage the equipment.This unit is not designed to be used on steepslopes. To prevent injury and/or damage tounit, use extreme caution when operating nearterraces or on hilly terrain. Travel acrossslopes at a 45° angle to reduce the chance oftipping the unit. Do not release the clutch handlewhile on a slope, this allows the unit to freewheel and it will roll down the slope.Fill fuel tank. See engine manufacturer’s specifications.NOTE: Never cross hard objects or surfaces (sidewalks,driveways, stepping stones etc.) with tines down.7
