The Asia Pacific group goes sub zeroBy Ove NygårdThe first week of February <strong>the</strong> Asia Pacificgroup held a “world summit” meetingat Geilo ski resort, some three hourstrain ride from Bergen. A few years havelapsed since <strong>the</strong> last time we had an opportunityto spend a few days toge<strong>the</strong>rto discuss strategies but also to be socialand get better acquainted. Early Fridaymorning we took <strong>the</strong> morning expressto Geilo, an experience in itself <strong>for</strong> someof our guests who had not yet experiencedsnow-covered Norwegian mountains.After checking in at <strong>the</strong> hotel andenjoying a quick lunch, we started oursessions. All visiting colleagues had preparedpresentations on a wide range ofbusiness-related topics, creating a lot ofquestions and comments from <strong>the</strong> attentivecrowd. We dedicated most ofSaturday to <strong>the</strong> group’s budgets <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong>various tradelanes, and our strategiesand visions ahead. There was also timeto discuss communication, documentationand some o<strong>the</strong>r practical issues.Both Friday and Saturday evenings wemet <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> more in<strong>for</strong>mal and socialpart of our ga<strong>the</strong>ring with drinks andgood food. Ski conditionswere close to perfect with 40 cmsnowfall during <strong>the</strong> night and powderconditions. While some were enjoyingdownhill skiing, o<strong>the</strong>rs were relaxing infront of <strong>the</strong> open fire or going <strong>for</strong> walksin <strong>the</strong> snow in temperatures down to15 centigrades below zero. In <strong>the</strong> earlyevening it was time to board <strong>the</strong> trainback to Bergen.Thanks to all participants <strong>for</strong> your insightfulcontributions and <strong>for</strong> sharingyour experiences, knowledge, visionand not least your humour.Visiting <strong>the</strong> Minister in SingaporeBy Sylvia KimIn connection with <strong>the</strong> Singapore MaritimeWeek, on September 24th 2007Mr. Haakon Ringdal and representativesfrom <strong>Odfjell</strong> Singapore visited Mrs.Lim Hwee Hua, Minister of State <strong>for</strong> Financeand Transport at <strong>the</strong> Ministry ofTransport office. During <strong>the</strong> meeting,Mrs. Lim in<strong>for</strong>med about <strong>the</strong> strong developmentof <strong>the</strong> Singapore maritimecluster. <strong>Odfjell</strong> presence in Singapore iswell noted and appreciated by <strong>the</strong> authorities.During <strong>the</strong> meeting <strong>the</strong> <strong>Odfjell</strong>representatives presented her witha model of M/T Bow Sky.
