The Asia Pacific group goes sub zeroBy Ove NygårdThe first week of February the Asia Pacificgroup held a “world summit” meetingat Geilo ski resort, some three hourstrain ride from Bergen. A few years havelapsed since the last time we had an opportunityto spend a few days togetherto discuss strategies but also to be socialand get better acquainted. Early Fridaymorning we took the morning expressto Geilo, an experience in itself for someof our guests who had not yet experiencedsnow-covered Norwegian mountains.After checking in at the hotel andenjoying a quick lunch, we started oursessions. All visiting colleagues had preparedpresentations on a wide range ofbusiness-related topics, creating a lot ofquestions and comments from the attentivecrowd. We dedicated most ofSaturday to the group’s budgets for thevarious tradelanes, and our strategiesand visions ahead. There was also timeto discuss communication, documentationand some other practical issues.Both Friday and Saturday evenings wemet for the more informal and socialpart of our gathering with drinks andgood food. Ski conditionswere close to perfect with 40 cmsnowfall during the night and powderconditions. While some were enjoyingdownhill skiing, others were relaxing infront of the open fire or going for walksin the snow in temperatures down to15 centigrades below zero. In the earlyevening it was time to board the trainback to Bergen.Thanks to all participants for your insightfulcontributions and for sharingyour experiences, knowledge, visionand not least your humour.Visiting the Minister in SingaporeBy Sylvia KimIn connection with the Singapore MaritimeWeek, on September 24th 2007Mr. Haakon Ringdal and representativesfrom Odfjell Singapore visited Mrs.Lim Hwee Hua, Minister of State for Financeand Transport at the Ministry ofTransport office. During the meeting,Mrs. Lim informed about the strong developmentof the Singapore maritimecluster. Odfjell presence in Singapore iswell noted and appreciated by the authorities.During the meeting the Odfjellrepresentatives presented her witha model of M/T Bow Sky.
