The plan is tonavigate themselves one level higher,which is to challenge last year’s leaguechampions.Not surprisingly, the growing fan clubmainly comprises female colleaguesat the office, although rumours claimthat even one of the fan’s spouses hasbegged to get a chance to train withthe Odfjell team.Some of the “die-hard” fansTrainees visiting Odfjell AcademyBy Helge AlsakerIn January, Superintendent TraineeTom-Erik Jensen and Surveyor TraineeHelge Alsaker visited the Odfjell Academyin Subic Bay for the AdvancedHealth, Safety, Security and Environment(HSSE) training course. This wasalso an opportunity to get an introductionto the MarinFloc system and Framocargo pumps.During the first four days we attendedthe Advanced HSSE course along withseventeen of our Filipino colleagues.The course consisted of Shipboard ManagementManual procedures, case studiesinvolving task risk assessments, eventreporting and some very interestingand educational role playing activities.On one occasion we acted as terroriststo test the crew on the different ISPS(International Ship and Port Security)levels. We also had a role-play of entryinto enclosed spaces/cargo tanks.The following week we toured both theOdfjell Academy and the Wärtsila facilities.Odfjell Academy and Wärtsila workclosely together in Subic Bay.
