Volunteer Centre <strong>Barnet</strong>Our aim: to provide a high quality volunteering support and promotion serviceHow we achieved this in <strong>2008</strong>/9• We were awarded a Big Lottery grant of £145k over 3 years for new project ‘ReachOut Further’• We held two successful high profile awards ceremonies with the Mayor of <strong>Barnet</strong>awarding over 260 volunteers with certificates to recognise 100 hours+ ofvolunteering• We were successful with a sub-regional funding bid to new charity v for a youthvolunteering team across <strong>Barnet</strong>, Enfield, Haringey and Waltham Forest for 3 years• 1678 volunteers were registered during the year and the Volunteer Centre offeredin the region of 250 different types of volunteering opportunities in over 200organisations in the BoroughWhat we plan to do in <strong>2009</strong>/10••••••Seeking (and obtaining) sustainable fundingCarry out more outreach in the communityBring in additional good practice support by hosting a sub-regional developmentworker ‘Experts in Volunteering’Reaching out to volunteers who would not normally engage in volunteering throughour Reach Out Further Project and encourage more placementsHold two volunteering award ceremoniesEngage more volunteers to help the Volunteer Centre deliver its service to thecommunity11 18 BVSC Annual Report
