Ourthanks to many people for allowingus to be in touch, include ourfine Editor, Cliff, who month aftermonth makes my humble columnreadable for our readers and alsoprovides space in h<strong>is</strong> popular paper.Our thanks also to the many readerswho write, phone and talk with usconcerning the column, offering theirpro’s and con’s for our opinion. Thewriting of a column <strong>is</strong> a two-waystreet and without your great help itwould be impossible to perform. Soplease keep me informed.Thank God 2005 has been a goodyear for most of us. For others wholost loved ones it’s been sad andlonely. We offer our sympathy andprayers that the Healing Process hasbegun. Some of our readers includingMike Kenny, Martin Fahey, JohnGriffin, and others who have beenhospitalized, we say Tanum cun De,for their speedy and complete recoveries.Others including Joe Begley,Mike Scanlon and Mike Flanagan,who have been recently hospitalized,we ask for our readers prayers, thatthose three great gaels have speedyand complete recoveries.On the home front hopefully theChicago Gaa and our senior hurlersand footballers have patched up theirdifferences. That past year was wastedunnecessarily and for that there <strong>is</strong>blame enough to go all around. But,that’s in the past, hopefully it hasbeen forgotten and by-laws enactedfor the sat<strong>is</strong>faction of all concerned.The well fare of the game shouldalways be our main concern andconsiderations for our many greatsupporters must be a top priority.Thankfully, our minor football board,ladies football, junior football andcamogie continued to keep the flagflying and for the Chicago gaeldomsay Gur a mile mait agat, a cairdeagus beannact De ar an oibre.Our thanks to Pat Daly, Editorof Gaelic Park <strong>News</strong> who keeps usinformed on Gaa news and manyother items of interest for our readers.Our congratulations to Parnell’sJunior A football teams on winningthe <strong>American</strong> Board championshipth<strong>is</strong> year. Also to the Patriot’s, anall-<strong>American</strong> football team whocaptured th<strong>is</strong> new championship lastyear. And also to Joe Begley and JoeKeane for all their great work in gettingth<strong>is</strong> team together and trainingand inspiring them to win th<strong>is</strong> muchcoveted championship.And on a sad note, Owen Tracey,former chairman of the North <strong>American</strong>Board died in November in Philadelphia,and U.S. gaeldom mournedthe loss of a great and dedicated gael.Ar dhe<strong>is</strong> De go raibhn an ainm. Ownwas the first <strong>American</strong> Board delegateto the Central Council and recentlyreceived the President’s Award bySean Kelly, President of the Gaa for“Outstanding Service”. Owen wasa proud native of Carrickmore, Co.Tyrone. Againour thanks and congrats – to the genialJohn and h<strong>is</strong> fellow all-star crew. Cura mile mait agat, a cairde.Over the holidays Tony Kenny’sChr<strong>is</strong>tmas Time in Ireland, was anotherbig success as a crowded hall joinedwith Ireland’s premier entertainerand h<strong>is</strong> all-star group in celebratingChr<strong>is</strong>tmas in Ireland. It was anotheraward winning performance and anoverflow attendance enjoyed everymoment of it. The New Year’s EveGala with Joe McShane and h<strong>is</strong> SilverbandBand playing some delightfulIr<strong>is</strong>h music ushered in the New Yearin great style.
