What is the Manifestation of Gifts of Healing? The God-given spiritual ability to heal by the power of God.It is importantthat Christianssee the differencebetween prayingfor someone andcommandinga healing byrevelation. The manifestation of gifts of healingsis your exercising your God-given spiritualability to heal by the power of God,according to what God or the Lord Jesushas revealed to you by a message ofknowledge or a message of wisdom.Gifts of healings is a manifestationof holy spirit (1 Cor. 12:9), and itoccurs when a Christian, actingon revelation, and by faith, bringsthe power of God to bear on anotherperson’s physical, mental, or emotionalneed and heals him. God does multiplehealings, and each of them is a gift, done out of His grace or mercy, butnot every healing is the manifestationof gifts of healings. Many people arehealed on their own with just a bandaidor some medication, or they maybe healed by the grace of God withoutanother person involved, but that is not“the manifestation” of gifts of healingsbecause the gift of holy spirit insideanother Christian was not employed. To do a healing or miracle, severalmanifestations come into action.First, the person needs a message ofknowledge and/or a message of wisdomto know what the situation is and whatto do about it. Second, he needs themanifestation of faith to bring to passthe healing. Third, he must representChrist on earth and, via the power ofGod, bring the healing to pass as Godsupplies the energy for it. Prayer is very important, andmany verses tell us to pray. However, when it comes to helping God’s peoplevia the manifestation of healing, it isvital to understand that does not meanpraying for someone to be healed.Notice how Jesus healed:Matthew 8:2 and 3(2) A man with leprosy cameand knelt before him and said,“Lord, if you are willing, you canmake me clean.”(3) Jesus reached out his handand touched the man. “I amwilling,” he said. “Be clean!”Immediately he was cured ofhis leprosy.Jesus did not pray for God to healthe leper. He knew he had the powerof God and he used it. Listen to whathe said: “The Spirit of the Lord is onme, because he has anointed me…toproclaim freedom for the prisoners…recovery of sight for the blind, to releasethe oppressed” (Luke 4:18). The spiritof God upon Jesus was what gave himpower. He also had great faith, and a24 STFonline.org/sower | May/June 2008
