When Jesus walked theearth, carrying out his mission as the Messiah to Israel andSavior of mankind, he could be in only one place at a time.Peter later spoke about:Acts 10:38how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the HolySpirit and power, and how he went around doinggood and healing all who were under the power ofthe devil, because God was with him.This May/June issue of The Sower is focused upon themonumental event recorded in Acts 2 when, on theJewish holiday of Pentecost, the Christian Church, theBody of Christ on earth, was born. 1 None of the “about 120”who first received the gift of holy spirit that morning, or the“about 3000” who believed Peter’s subsequent messageand were born again shortly thereafter, understood theearth-shaking significance of that day. None realized thatthey were the first members of a theretofore undreamed ofgroup of people unlike any who had ever lived.Wherever Jesus went, he exercised the power of Godto prevail over Satan and destroy his works, but he coulddirectly do nothing about what was going on anywhere else.The Sacred Secret that was hidden in God, which, had Satanknown, he would not have crucified Jesus, was that Jesuswould diversify himself into a worldwide body of people.Each would be anointed and equipped with holy spirit, as hewas, and could therefore do the works he did.
