For further study on the subject of healing (both physical & emotional), visit TruthOrTradition.com/healingDEATH UNTO LIFE / Saved from Sin and DeathNow that’s a novel idea, giventhat most people (as in all) are goingthe other way. Fittingly, it was JesusChrist, the first man who would gofrom death unto life, who coined thephrase, as follows:John 5:24 (KJV)Verily, verily, I say unto you, He thatheareth my word, and believeth onhim that sent me, hath everlastinglife, and shall not come intocondemnation; but is passed fromdeath unto life. What are the prerequisites forthose desiring to reverse the age-oldtrend of life unto death? First, onemust hear the Word of God that isaddressed specifically to him. Second, one must believe what he hears andact upon it. Here is the Word writtento people today who want to go fromdeath unto life (would that be you?):Romans 10:9That if you confess with your mouth,“Jesus is Lord,” and believe in yourheart that God raised him from thedead, you will be saved. What is it that one is saved from?Sin and death. As the following versetells us, those disgusting realities werefoisted upon us by our forefather,Adam.Romans 5:12 (NKJV)Therefore, just as through one mansin entered the world, and deaththrough sin, and thus death spreadto all men, because all sinned --Jesus Christ is the only solutionto the problem of sin and death. Heconquered sin by choosing to live asinless life, all the way to the Cross. Thus God could, and did, raise himfrom the dead, and thus he defeateddeath. How perfect that God choseSpring as the season during which Heraised Jesus from the dead and, sevenweeks later at Pentecost, poured outHis holy spirit (via the Lord Jesus)on mankind in new way. After theirWinter “death,” trees, plants, andflowers spring forth in newness oflife.Likewise, a once-battered Jesusburst forth from the cold, dark tomband became a life-giving light to allwho choose to follow him. If you sochoose, he will instantly fill you withhis divine nature and thereby equipyou to walk and talk with him for therest of your earthly life. And he willone day transform your mortal bodyinto a perfect you so that you canenjoy everlasting life with him.humble and righteous walk before God.Every Christian has the spirit of the Lord, and according to what Jesus said in Acts1:8, each has power.Peter learned from Jesus. Whenhe was going into the Temple, saw thelame man, and received revelation thatthe man had faith to be healed, he said,“…what I have I give you. In the name ofJesus Christ of Nazareth, walk” (Acts 3:6).Peter knew he had power, and he freelygave it, just as he had seen Jesus do onso many occasions. Notice that Peterdid not pray. Once he knew the willof God by revelation, he commandedthe healing. He did the same thing toTabitha, who had died. He prayed forguidance, then turned to the dead bodyand commanded, “Tabitha, get up” (Acts9:40).Paul is another great example to us,because even though he had not beenwith Jesus, he understood the powerthat he had via the holy spirit withinhim. When face to face with Elymas thesorcerer, he commanded. “‘…You aregoing to be blind, and for a time youwill be unable to see the light of the sun.’Immediately mist and darkness cameover him [Elymas]…” (Acts 13:11). InLystra, Paul healed a lame man, saying,“…Stand up on your feet…” (Acts 14:10),and immediately the man stood up andbegan walking. All Christians are able to healThe Word of God was given to us toshow us how to live, and when it comesto helping others and using the powerof God, the lessons are clear. We need toincrease our faith and step forth boldlyto do what the Lord directs us to do.We realize that although the presenceof holy spirit gives each Christian thespiritual power to do healings andmiracles, there are those who will excelin operating these manifestation. Thereis a difference between inherent spiritualability and how that ability will actuallybe evidenced in the life of an individualChristian. Nevertheless, we assert thatmany more Christians would be doinghealings and miracles if they knew theyhad the ability and were confident toact on it.Every Christian has thespirit of the Lord, andaccording to what Jesussaid in Acts 1:8, eachhas power. We need to increaseour faith and step forthboldly to do what theLord directs us to do.May/June 2008 | STFonline.org/sower 25
