Global Environmental Preservation Activities<br />
<strong>Samsung</strong> <strong>Electronics</strong> is conducting a number of programs to contribute to environmental protection around the world.<br />
Korea<br />
‘World Day for Water’ Ceremony<br />
‘World Day for Water’ Ecosystem Preservation Activities<br />
A number of volunteer activities were conducted<br />
on March 22, <strong>2012</strong>, the 20th World<br />
Water Day. For example, 150 employees from<br />
the Suwon plant joined members of the Suwon<br />
YWCA, the Suwon Environmental Movement<br />
Center and the Citizens’ Coalition for Economic<br />
Justice to remove trash from the Singal water<br />
reservoir. The student volunteers at Hwangsang<br />
elementary school, a sister organization<br />
of <strong>Samsung</strong> <strong>Electronics</strong>, conducted waterway<br />
tracking and cleanup activities as well. Another<br />
volunteer group conducted a water conservation<br />
campaign at Guhado eco-park in Hanam<br />
Industrial Park and cleaned up a lake located in<br />
the park.<br />
Employee volunteer group conducted a collection<br />
of activities from installation of a sand collector,<br />
removal of non-native species, planting<br />
of native sweetbrier plants and trash clean-up<br />
to protect the dune ecosystem.<br />
China<br />
‘World Day for Water’ Clean Up Activities<br />
Green Activities with Local Community<br />
In China, 320 employees participated in<br />
trash removal at three lakes and planted trees<br />
around the lakes for preservation of the aquatic<br />
environment. The volunteers also spent time<br />
on raising awareness of the importance of environmental<br />
protection and green life-styles.<br />

‘Global Action’ Day Program<br />
‘Global Action’ Children Event<br />
<strong>Samsung</strong> <strong>Electronics</strong> has been conducting<br />
campaigns on a ban of clear-cutting of the<br />
Amazon rainforest and other relevant activities.<br />
The <strong>Samsung</strong> <strong>Electronics</strong> office in Manos,<br />
Brazil hosted a ‘Global Action’ day program on<br />
May 14, 2011 with more than 3,000 members<br />
of local communities. <strong>Samsung</strong> <strong>Electronics</strong><br />
volunteers gave away toys made of recycled<br />
industrial waste and taught local children on<br />
the importance of recycling.<br />
