“Cfriday Live EntertainmentCarrie Cunningham andthe Six Shooterslassically Trained Country Crooner.” This is what CarrieCunningham has become to be known as. With not a lotto do in a small Nebraska town, Carrie’s love for singing began atan early age, watching and imitating “Barbara Mandrell and theMandrell Sisters Show.” Carrie loved to watch the way Barbaraand her sisters used the stage and performed; they are theinfluences that helped Carrie discover her passion to become anentertainer. Although her parents loved theMidwest, they believed the Northwestwould increase their chances ofMeet the BandCarrie Cunninghamhaving successful careers. Feelingout-of-place and insecure, Carrie’sJeff Knappteacher suggested she join themiddle school acappella and jazzBlaine Moodychoirs. Carrie soon found comfortTim Rooneyand felt a sense of belonging.Dale Granstrom Carrie started to build herDirk Alanconfidence and began performingsolos to packed gymnasiums.Although Carrie was singing classicaland jazz music in school, she found comfortat home listening to Alabama, Patsy Cline, and Jim Croce, whilelistening to a few newpop-rock sounds likethose of Damn Yankees“Carrie’s lyrical writingrivals her amazing voice…pure songs that leavesome mystery and invokedistinct, vivid imagery!”- KXLY Ch. 4Spokaneof their begging, she agreed to join the band asa part front man. Carrie found there weremoral confrontations and was not going tosacrifice what she believed in for a coverband, so she ended the relationship. Withintwo weeks, Divulge Records signed Carrieto a recording deal. Branching out for thefirst time as a solo performer and Nashvilleand Aerosmith. Duringhigh school, Carrie’svocal talents developedtremendously and earnedher a seat for All-Stateand All-Northwest Choirs.Because of the four-toeight–partharmoniesCarrie’s ear was now used to, she began to listen a little moreclosely to pop and Motown music. The Mamas and the Papasand the Supremes were the main source of ear candy for Carrie, along with a few bands off the radio. Wanting to find her place inmusic, Carrie began to focus on the music that really brought herback to her roots in Nebraska. At this moment of her life, RebaMcEntire exploded onto the Country Charts. Carrie knew her lifewas going to revolve around country from that day forward. Sheentered her first country singing competition in Spokane, Wash.,at the age of 19 and took fourth place. Singing in college choirand taking private vocal lessons helped Carrie take home firstplace at the 100th Anniversary Eagles Auxillary National TalentCompetition a few years later. Once college was over, Carriejoined the Spokane Symphony Choral in order for her to maintainher vocal strength. She ended up staying for five years.Carrie started dabbling into songwriting in 1996 after beinga part of many different cover bands from blues and classicrock to a performing and songwriting duo for two years. Shefound that singing other people’s songs paid the bills, but werenot personally satisfying. In 2003, Carrie sang backgroundvocals for a Seattle country band, where, in 2004, after months10 2011 sublimity harvest festivalPhoto courtesy of Carrie Cunningham and the Six ShootersPlays Fridayat 9 p.m.Songwriters Association member in late 2006, Carrie hasspent the years playing benefit concerts and touching peopleworldwide with her heartfelt lyrics, and has shared the stagewith numerous national acts such as The Bellamy Brothers,Mark Wills, Rich McCready, Sugarland, Keith Anderson, andHeidi Newfield. Where and whenwill she be appearing next is always a bombarding question thatcomes Carrie’s way. With her physique, her stage presence, theuncanny vocal resemblance of Linda Rondstandt meets PatsyCline, it’s clear why Carrie Cunningham’s popularity is spreadinglike wildfire from the Northwest regions of the US to scores oflocations around the globe!

History of the Annual Fun RunThe yearly run is a healthful HarvestFestival favoriteThe Sublimity Fun Run started in 1979 and was part of theoriginal runner craze. It grew to almost 200 participantsby 1984 as the popularity of running grew. The first one wasmanned mostly by students from Regis High School’s crosscountry team and Stayton Road Runners as a way to promoterunning and physical fitness in the community. The popularityof running and walking still continues as this will mark the funrun’s 30th year. Mike Bauer, a coach and counselor at RegisHigh School and a Road Runner himself, has played an importantrole in the implementation of the Sublimity Fun Run. Mr. Bauer’sfamily, mostly from Eugene, is also involved in such things asmaking the awards, his brother Pat used to design t-shirts forPhoto courtesy of the Sublimity Harvest FestivalParticipants in the 2010 SHF Fun Run get pumped up for the race.the race, and his nieces and nephews and now grand nieces andnephew help hand out awards. It has become a great excusefor Mr. Bauer’s family to hold a family reunion after the event. Inrecent times the Sublimity Harvest Festival has taken an activerole in the event, Bob Hartmann has taken over the design ofthe t shirt with a theme portrayed from the community. TheSublimity School PTA is the beneficiary of some of the proceedsand many of their students and teachers are involved. It is aspopular as ever with almost 200 participants last year. Thisyear’s fun run and walk will take place September 10th at 9a.m. at Sublimity Grade School.
