PEPSA TabletDosage Forms/CompositionTablet: Each enteric coated tablet contains Serratiopeptidase 5mg/10mg.Pharmacological IndexProteolytic enzymeINDICATIONTrauma Surgery: It reduces inflammation and helps in faster healing and repair insports injury, fractures, dislocation and osteoarthritis etc.Surgery: It reduces post operative Edema at injection sites and reduces internal tissueedema and inflammation caused at post-operative handling. Reduction in edemareduces chances of rupture at tissue as well as risk of in case of plastic surgery graftrejection.Respiratory Medicine: It breaks down complex sputum molecules into smaller peptidaseof lower viscosity, helping in expectorating them more easily. Reduced viscosity ofsecretion helps in better antibiotic penetration to enable control over stubborninfections like bronchitis, lung abscess.ENT: It has Mucolytic activity in sinuses, ear cavities and anti -inflammatory activity inupper respiratory tract organs help in faster resolution, better antibiotic bioavailabilityand faster cure rates.Dermatology: acute painful inflamed dermatitis.Dentistry: dental infections and inflammation.Obstetrics & Gynecology: The anti-inflammatory activity of Serratiopeptidase helps inresolution of post-partum haematomas, breast engorgements and pregnancy relatedthrombophlebitis.Male Genital Infection: Serratiopeptidase restores microcirculation and augmentsantibiotic penetration in these organs which are known to produce poor antibioticavailability.ContraindicationsAnorexia, gastric discomfort and nausea to be used with caution in pregnancy andlactation patients with blood coagulation abnormalities, severe hepatic and renaldisturbances or under treatment with anti-coagulants, should be given under carefulobservation. Administration should be discontinued when hypersensitivity symptoms, such as eruption, appear.Warnings/PrecautionsSevere hepatic or renal disorder.Adverse ReactionsSkin rash, diarrhoea, anorexia, GI disturbances, epistaxis (rare).Mechanism of ActionSerratiopeptidase is a proteolytic enzyme available for clinical use more than a decade.

Serratiopeptidase binds to alpha -2-macroglobulin in the blood which helps to mask itsantigenicity but retains its enzymatic activity and is slowly, transferred to site ofinflammation. Serratiopeptidase hydrolyses bradykinin, histamine and serotoninresponsible for oedematic status. Serratiopeptidase reduces swelling, improvesmicrocirculation and expectoration of sputum etc. Thus Serratiopeptidase has antiinflammatory,anti-oedemic and fibrinolytic activity and acts rapidly on localizedinflammation.Serratiopeptidase is a centrally acting agent for painful musculoskeletal conditions. Itdeactivates plasmin inhibitors, hydrolyses pain mediators like bradykinin, histamine, etc, accelerates liquefaction & elimination of sputum, pus & haematoma, reducesinflammation and improves microcirculation. It helps the body to breakdown pus &debris of dead microbes & thus increases penetration of antibiotics at the site ofinfection.Usual Dosage1 tablet thrice a day before meals.LOMUS Drug Information CenterLomus Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd.P.O.
