The program <strong>of</strong>ferschildren and young adults with disabilities an opportunity tostar and participate in Broadway-style musicals, assisted by ashadow cast <strong>of</strong> similarly aged individuals without disabilities.The group is in rehearsal for its first production, “Annie Junior,”which will take the stage this September. Joe lives in Sycamore,IL, with his wife Barb and their three high school-age children.Colleen (Ryan) Ottens ’82 is currently attending graduateschool at Judson University in Elgin, IL to receive her teachingcertification. In December, she will complete her coursework andbecome a fully certified K-9 teacher. He joinsbig sister Lauren.Fred Delaney, Jr. ’88 and his wife, Maren, are the proudparents <strong>of</strong> Cailin Elizabeth Delaney, born on March 12, 2010.Cailin weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces and was 22 inches long.She joins big sister Sophie who is 2 ½ years old.Douglas LaPlaca ’90 was recently named “Man <strong>of</strong> the Year”in Bend, Oregon where he lives with his wife, Dawn, and theirsons, Jake and Zach. Doug, President <strong>of</strong> the Bend Conventionsand Visitors Bureau, was bestowed the award for his manyaccomplishments in improving both the local economy and thequality <strong>of</strong> life in the area.Frank Delsing ’91 pilots large aircraftfor the Royal Air ForceFrank Delsing ’91 is currently aUS Air Force Test pilot, workingin the United Kingdom as aheavy aircraft test pilot, on anexchange tour with the RoyalAir Force. On June 1st, hewas promoted to LieutenantColonel. He and his wife andtwo children will be movingto Florida, where he will helpdevelop new aircraft as well asupdates to older aircraft for thespecial operations role.Kathryn Mullaney ’91, an Associate Vice President at PrimeraEngineers in Chicago, was recently named Director <strong>of</strong> BusinessDevelopment. Kate has been with the firm for 4 years managingmarketing and sales activities in healthcare and education marketsectors. She lives in the Logan Square neighborhood <strong>of</strong> Chicago withBrian Patterson and their adopted rescue dogs, Mongo and Madison.Kevin Clinnin ’96 and Gina (Cannata) Clinnin ’96 announcethe birth <strong>of</strong> their son, Nathan Phillip Clinnin, born November3, 2009. Nathan weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces and was 20 incheslong. He joins big sister, Charlotte JoAnn, who turned 2 in May.John Loesch ’97 and his wife, Nicole, welcomed their daughterAbigail (Abbie) Marie Loesch into their family on March 21,2010. Abbie joins big brother Ben who turned two in June.Heather (Watson) Angell ’98 and her husband, Mac, are proud toannounce the birth <strong>of</strong> their first child, Logan Louis, who was bornon April 9, 2010. Logan weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces and was 21inches long. Jen alsoreceived her Master <strong>of</strong> Occupational Therapy in December,2009 and will be working with <strong>Marian</strong>joy Rehabilitation Centerin Palos Heights, IL.Julie (Brewer) Smith ’99 and her husband, Dennis Smith,welcomed their first child on December 18, 2009. AngelicaWind Smith weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces and was 19 incheslong. She is a true blessing to Julie and Dennis who weremarried in May, 2006. Julie is a stay at home mom and alsoruns a small business from home working as a specializedrecruiter. Dennis has been working for AT&T for 10 years as acustomer systems technician. The family resides in Beecher, IL.Navy Seaman Apprentice Ronda L. Johnson ’03 was recentlypromoted to her current rank upon graduation from recruittraining at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL. Johnsonreceived the early promotion for outstanding performance duringall phases <strong>of</strong> the training cycle, which included classroom studyand practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting,water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. Anemphasis was also placed on physical fitness.12
Logan, son <strong>of</strong>Heather (Watson) Angell ’98Angelica, daughter <strong>of</strong>Julie (Brewer) Smith ’99Erik Skurka ’03 recently left PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP inChicago as a CPA for the past two years to take an opportunityas a product marketing manager with www.optionMONSTER.com, a financial markets information website based out <strong>of</strong>Chicago. He currently lives in the South Loop.Erica Jones ’04 recently announced her engagement to JosephSteadman. Erica is a 2008 graduate <strong>of</strong> Marquette Universitywhere she received a Bachelor’s degree in Communications witha focus in marketing. She is currently employed as a MarketingAssistant with Creatonomy, Inc. in Milwaukee. Erica and Joewill be married in Milwaukee at the Church <strong>of</strong> the Gesu on July17, 2010. Following a honeymoon in Punta Cana, the couplewill reside in Milwaukee.Erin Dolan ’06 has graduated from the University <strong>of</strong> NotreDame with a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Business Administration in Marketing.Erin has been hired by DEHCO <strong>of</strong> Elkhart, IN, as its new Salesand Marketing Coordinator.Brandi Senter ’06 graduated in May with a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts degreein Psychology from Saint Louis University and will be continuing agraduate education on scholarship at their law school.Blaise Sylvester ’06, a senior outfielder at Millikin University,batted .474 earlier this baseball season. In the Big Blue’sweekend series with Elmhurst, Sylvester homered in all threegames including a two-run game winning walk-<strong>of</strong>f blastin the series’ finale. Sylvester is a Fitness and Sport/SportsManagement major.Scott Noth ’07 is majoring in Automotive EngineeringTechnology with a minor in Motor Sports Managementat Indiana State University. ISU’s student-runracing team includes the driver, manager, publicrelations personnel, mechanics, and those who securesponsorships. The university provides the car, trailerand insurance only. In addition to traveling throughoutIndiana and other parts <strong>of</strong> the Midwest to race, theteam visits area high schools to recruit new studentsinto the program.Noth is the crew chief <strong>of</strong> the drag racing team. “Imanage the computer and data systems in the car, andindividualize the settings for our driver,” he said. “Wecompete in the NHRA Division 3 Super Comp Class,however, we are one <strong>of</strong> only a few teams that utilize afuel-injected engine rather than a carbureted engine.General Motors donated two GM LS 7 engines toour program which are similar to a Corvette engine.Because the dragster is lighter than a Corvette, we canreach top speeds easily.”After graduation in 2011, he hopes to get a positionwith a pr<strong>of</strong>essional Formula 1 racing team.Ron CentanniLong-time MCHS Guidance Counselor,Ron Centanni, has retired after 29 years<strong>of</strong> service to countless <strong>Marian</strong> <strong>Catholic</strong>students, including some entire families <strong>of</strong>siblings. Perhaps best known for his eclecticcollection <strong>of</strong> “stuff” in his <strong>of</strong>fice, and beingone <strong>of</strong> the biggest Cubs fans on campus,Mr. Centanni has exciting plans forhis retirement.“I’m going to add a lot <strong>of</strong> stamps to mypassport,” he said. “It will be interestingto travel during other seasons than justsummer. Asia and South America aretoward the top <strong>of</strong> the list, but I’ll still findtime to volunteer for Tinley Park villageactivities, and I might just take it easy fora change.”13
