2010 CLASS REUNIONSThe 2010 Class Reunions are set and reunion committees are gearing up for fun in the Sr. M. Paul McCaughey, O.P. Leadership Centerat Marian Catholic High School. The Classes of 1970 and 1990 will hold their reunions on Saturday, September 18, 2010. The Classesof 1975, 1980, 1985, and 2000 will have their reunions on Saturday, September 25, 2010. Cost is $55 per person.Started last year, the five year reunion class is treated to a complimentary informal reunion sponsored by the Marian Catholic AlumniAssociation. The Class of 2005 is invited to gather in the Leadership Center on Friday, September 24, 2010 during the AlumniHomecoming Gathering. Doors will open for 2005 alumni at 8:30 p.m.The Alumni Homecoming Gathering is, however, open to all alumni and friends who wish to join us for pizza, beer, wine and beveragesfor a donation after the Homecoming Game. This year, our Spartans will face Notre Dame at 7:30 p.m.The Class of 1965 will hold their reunion on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Ravisloe Country Club in Homewood. HALL OF FAME 2011The Advancement Office seeks nominations of potential candidatesfor the 2011 Marian Catholic Hall of Fame. Alumni, parents,faculty, staff and friends may make nominations in the followingfour categories:Alumna/Alumnus of the Year Award*Honors an alumna/alumnus who has contributed outstanding anddistinguished service in his or her chosen profession, and someonewho reflects honorably on Marian Catholic High School.Spirit of Marian Award *+Honors an alumna/alumnus, staff member or friend of Marianwho best exemplifies the Dominican traditions of unselfishservice to others and outstanding contribution to Marian, his/hercommunity, or church.Athlete of the Year Award *+Honors the accomplishments of an alumna/alumnus or staffmember who has participated in the Marian Catholic High SchoolAthletic Program and has achieved a high level of recognition inathletics, either professionally, collegiately, or at Marian.Fine Arts Distinguished Achievement Award *+Honors the achievement of an alumna/alumnus or staff memberin the Fine Arts – drama, visual arts, music, broadcasting or choral.A nominee should have achieved a high level of recognition in his/her particular field.*Marian Catholic alumna/alumnus must have graduated atleast five years prior to nomination.+Staff members must have served a minimum of three yearsprior to nomination.Past Athlete of the Year Hall ofFame inductee, Dave Mattio ’66welcomes the newest Spirit ofMarian awardee, Sister JudithAnne Haase, O.P. during herschool visit.Written nominations should include as much information aboutthe candidate as possible. Award recipients must be ableto attend the Awards Dinner in February, 2011.The Dominican Sisters of Springfield, the Alumni Association,and the entire Marian Catholic community sadly acknowledgethe passing of the following members of our family:The Marian Catholic High School Community grieves the loss of Paige Kuersten ’12,who died as a result of a recent automobile accident. Our deepest sympathy andprayerful support go out to the family of Paige and to all those who love her.Edward Krumb ’65 passed away May 31, 2010 in Prosser, Washington. Active in theFraternal Order of Eagles, and serving at both the district and state levels, Krumb wasnamed Mr. Eagle for 2006-2007. He lived by the Eagles’ motto, “People Helping People.”Harriet M. Kampe, mother of Dr. Carolyn J. Kampe ’62, and Joan (Kampe) Figg ’64and grandmother of Samuel Figg ’86 and Frederic Figg ’87, passed away in March.Many may remember Mrs. Kampe from the very earliest days of Marian Catholicwhen she worked in the bookstore. Carolyn remarked that her mother was always veryproud of being a part of the Marian community and enjoyed her experiences here.Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
