What is “Narrowbanding?”• Given there is only 20 MHz of spectrum tolicense, the only course of action is for theFCC to license users for operation innarrower slices of the pie• Narrowbanding is the move from 25 kHz-wideslices of the 20 MHz pie to 12.5 kHz-wideslices
But there’s a twist…• Some users require 19200 bps throughput buttheir radios can only go this fast in 25 kHzchannels• Perhaps for this reason, the FCC decided tocontinue to allow operation in 25 kHzchannels - but only at 19200 bps
