Technical Memorandum No.6 – Digester GasTechnical Memorandum No.7 – Odour Management• Digester Gas Utilization:• This Technical Memorandum identified various options fordigester gas system optimization and evaluated alternativestrategies for beneficial use of the gas produced.• The preferred gas utilization methodology consists of thefollowing elements:• Hydronic heating boilers (existing process)• Waste gas flare (existing process)• The option to include a cogeneration facility at CataraquiBay WWTP has been considered. The decision regardingthe implementation of this option will be deferred until thedetailed design phase.• Odour Management:• This Technical Memorandum addressed the odourmanagement strategy for the proposed plant expansion.Investigations of individual treatment processes werecompleted.• A proactive approach of preventative measures forpotential odours and odour treatment is recommended,including:• Housekeeping and operational practices• Documentation and investigation of complaints• In-house odour surveys• Odour treatment for exhaust streams in theHeadworks Building, the Biosolids Storage Facility,the Sludge Dewatering/Thickening, and the SeptageReceiving Facility.
