What are my Responsibilities as a Referral Partner?Timeline for Referral PartnersSEPTEMBERSchedule Fall Lunch (Essential)Our staff will come to your school to have lunch with all the Summer Search students and give them achance to reflect on their experiences with peers who can relate. You and other school staff areencouraged to join us!Talk to students about their trips (Optional)Often students feel overwhelmed and isolated after returning from such a big trip. If you are able, pleaseask them about their trip and/or create opportunities for them to speak to other teachers or studentsabout their experiences.Spread the word about Summer Search (Optional)Make Summer Search a part of your school community by talking with your colleagues about theprogram, creating a newsletter about the student’s summer experiences or helping students createa bulletin board with pictures from their summer trips.OCTOBER / NOVEMBER / DECEMBERSolicit names of sophomores to refer to Summer Search (Essential)You may use the “Nomination Template” in this handbook to solicit nominations from your colleagues.You may also schedule a meeting for your colleagues to hear about the program from our staff so thatthey can help you in referring students. > More information about how to nominate students is availablein this handbook.Schedule an information session for students (Essential)Summer Search staff will come to your school to present the program to the nominated students andexplain the application process to them.
