HIST 3393 History of Modern JapanThe survey course examines the modern history of Japan from the Tokugawa periodto the present.HIST 3396 Early Modern Europe: 1400-1815This course examines the political, social, and cultural events in Europe from theRenaissance and Reformation through the Age of Napoleon.HIST 4181, 4281, 4381 Special TopicsPrerequisite: Permission of the instructor and the Dean of the College ofHumanities.Directed study of a minimum of thirty clock hours for each hour of credit. Special emphasis will be given to the period ofthe Gilded Age, 1877-1896, and the Progressive Era which followed—as the formativestage in the development of modern America.HIST 4326 Europe after Napoleon: 1815-PresentThis class analyzes the political, social, and cultural trends in Europe from the fall ofNapoleon through the collapse of the USSR.HIST 4336 History of BritainThis survey covers the origins and development of political, social, and culturalinstitutions in the British Isles from Roman times until the modern era.HIST 4363 Twentieth Century AmericaA study of American political, social, and economic history from 1901 to the end ofthe century.HIST 4383 Internship in HistoryPrerequisites: permission of instructor.Directed work experience in a variety of public and private organizations. The primaryobjective of this course is to provide students with opportunities to apply what theyhave learned in class in a career-oriented setting.
