<strong>Foodservice</strong> <strong>Supplier</strong> <strong>Excellence</strong> <strong>Checklist</strong>To support industry standards that enhance supply chain efficiencies – including ECCnet Registry – yourcompany must adhere to the following business requirements:1. Register your Company Prefix Licence or contact <strong>GS1</strong> <strong>Canada</strong> at 1.800.567.7084 ext. 3 to confirm yourstatus. If you are not the owner of a Company Prefix Licence yet distribute other manufacturers’ products,provide a Prefix Authorization Form to <strong>GS1</strong> <strong>Canada</strong> that allows your organization to use prefixes. Visitwww.gs1ca.org/e/prefixlicencing for more information.2. Ensure that you understand bar code fundamentals. Operators/Distributors require that your products areidentified with globally unique bar codes. Please ensure that you obtain a Bar Code Scan VerificationReport from <strong>GS1</strong> <strong>Canada</strong> to ensure that the bar codes printed on your products can be read the first timeand every time by scanners at point-of-sale. Each time that youchange your products' graphics, packaging, nutritional information, or declaration to the consumer (amongother characteristics), you must assign a new and unique GTIN. Review <strong>GS1</strong> <strong>Canada</strong>’s GTIN AllocationRules – endorsed by your trading partner(s) as an enabler of efficient supply chain operations. Visitwww.gs1.org/gtinrules to view the GTIN Allocation Rules.4. National brand product suppliers are required to provide up-to-date product images through <strong>GS1</strong> <strong>Canada</strong>’sECCnet Image & Validation (ECCnet I&V) database prior to listing a product. Send an up-to-date physicalsample of your product(s) to ECCnet I&V for the capture of <strong>Foodservice</strong> Montage Images. Visitwww.gs1ca.org/<strong>Foodservice</strong>Image for further a detailed description of the specifications.5. Establish a cross-functional team to designate responsibility for ECCnet Registry and other <strong>GS1</strong> <strong>Canada</strong>offerings. Teams should be comprised of a Catalogue Captain responsible for the integrity of the dataloaded into ECCnet Registry, as well as sales staff that have access to listing forms and a productdevelopment staff to manage ECCnet I&V data and images. Assigning appropriate contacts will ensurethat targeted communications are reaching the correct individuals.6. Participate in supplier education webinars to learn how to load your product data into ECCnet Registry.<strong>GS1</strong> <strong>Canada</strong> customizes webinars according to industry, taking under consideration the specific dataloading option used. Eight weeks before a product is available for delivery, you are required to verify the quality and accuracy ofyour product data and load your product data into ECCnet Registry, according to Canadian requirements.This data includes all levels of the product packaging hierarchy, notably all configurations that you willpresent or ship to your trading partner(s) and the completion of mandatory data fields, including core data,marketing information, and nutritional information. Prior to requesting your <strong>Foodservice</strong> Marketing andNutritional Certification (FS3MN), your catalogue must be certified for core data fields (FM2 certification).a. To request data certification, contact the <strong>GS1</strong> <strong>Canada</strong> Implementation Support team at1.800.567.7084, ext. 341 or email ECCnetSupport@gs1ca.org. Go to www.gs1ca.org/e/benefitsfor additional information.b. Upon receipt of certification, publish your ECCnet Registry product data to all youroperator/distributor trading partners.c. Inform your operator/distributor representative(s) that your product data is available in ECCnetRegistry.Regularly review your vendor scorecards for any incomplete data, which <strong>GS1</strong> <strong>Canada</strong> reviews for completenessthree times a week.
