I am thrilled beyond measure to beback at <strong>Badin</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>, talking to you aboutthis school that we love, a school that changeslives and prepares young men and womento live <strong>the</strong> faith and lead <strong>the</strong> future. Although<strong>Badin</strong> is familiar territory for me—<strong>the</strong> new InstitutionalAdvancement effort presents uncharteredwaters, new challenges and tremendousopportunities.What exactly is Institutional Advancement?The Advancement effort encompasses <strong>the</strong> totalprogram to build and sustain support for <strong>Badin</strong><strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> through development and fundraising,alumni and community relations, marketingand communications, enrollment management(student recruitment and retention),strategic planning and building new revenuestreams for <strong>the</strong> school. As Executive Director,my role is to incorporate long-range planninginto our business model while ensuring <strong>the</strong>school has adequate resources to achieve ourgoals and advance <strong>the</strong> mission of <strong>Badin</strong> <strong>High</strong><strong>School</strong>.The Office of Institutional Advancement includesmany of <strong>the</strong> same faces you’ve come toknow over <strong>the</strong> years:• Angie Pieper Gray ‘83, Director ofDevelopment/Marketing• Dirk Q. Allen, Director of Admissions/MediaRelations• Patti Pate Gray ’80, Advancement AssistantThe members of this staff are to be commendedfor a number of accomplishments over <strong>the</strong>past several years…• We’re growing! The freshman andsophomore classes are <strong>the</strong> largestclasses in <strong>the</strong> school.• The October 23, 2011 Open House was<strong>the</strong> largest Open House ever held at <strong>Badin</strong><strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> with more than 1,000guests and 240 prospective students.• The Annual Fund, Scholarship Fundsand fundraising events continue togrow bringing a combined total of$390,000 in fundraising revenue toBHS.• All of this is accomplished with one of<strong>the</strong> smallest advancement departmentsin <strong>the</strong> Archdiocese of Cincinnati.We realize that in order to build our enrollmentand revenue, we need to allocate moreresources. Our goal is to grow <strong>the</strong> Advancementeffort to include stronger alumni relations andannual giving programs. The current staff doesa tremendous job, and we want to ensure <strong>the</strong>yhave what <strong>the</strong>y need to continue to build on <strong>the</strong>strong foundation that already exists.Of course we’ll need your help as we marchalong this path of continuous improvement,particularly as we begin our strategic planninginitiative in early 2012.
