DATA SHEETTellabs ® 1000 Multiservice Access PlatformT-1 HDSL Transceiver (T1HD-XCVR)OverviewThe Tellabs ® 1000 Multiservice Access Platform (MSAP) T-1 HDSLTransceiver (T1HD-XCVR) provides a T-1 rate interface, transmittingand receiving up to 24 DS0s (1.544 Mbps) of voice or data originatingfrom either a T-1 transceiver or plug-in cards in the Tellabs ®1000 MSAP shelf. The Tellabs 1000 MSAP T1HD-XCVR is designed for applicationsthat require an alternative to traditional repeatered T-1 transport. TheT1HD-XCVR supports span protection and may be used for nonrepeateredtransport between any Tellabs 1000 MSAP terminals. The T1HD-XCVR may be configured in a framed format to delivergroomed T-1 services. The T1HD-XCVR may also be configured inan unframed format to allow for intact (asynchronous) T-1 transport. Each T1HD-XCVR can transport a single T-1 up to 12,000 feet(12 kft) over non-repeatered 24 gauge copper facilities. For distancesbeyond 12 kft, a single HDSL repeater (doubler) may be usedbetween Tellabs 1000 MSAP terminals, doubling the range of eachtransceiver. The T1HD-XCVR also supports up to two doublers perspan. The T1HD-XCVR performs ANSI signaling conversion and data linktermination. The line coding is 2B1Q, with echo cancellation. Thetransceiver features selectable Zero suppression (NONE or BIT7),alarm thresholds, BER calculation, performance monitoring statisticsand alarm history. The T1HD-XCVR utilizes two copper wire pairs to transport 24 DS0s.The two pairs provide bidirectional transmission and do not separatethe transmit and receive pairs. The distance that a T1HD-XCVR carries a signal over anunconditioned, non-repeatered span varies with the gauge of thetransmission facilities. Sample distances using non-repeatered 19, 22,24 and 26 gauge copper cable are:Features and Benefits:• One HDSL T-1 1.544-Mbps interface• SF and ESF framing formats• Up to 12 kft non-repeatered T-1 transmission on 24 AWGcopper facilities• Strap-selectable line powering voltage for up to two HREs• Extensive loopback diagnostics• Front panel jack access for test and monitoring• Customer intact synchronous/asynchronous T-1 delivery capability• Dual memory support for upgradesT1HD-XCVRFAILACTVLOCREMEOUTFEINCCLED IndicatorsLED indicators located on the T1HD-XCVRfaceplate indicate the following (seeSpecifications for more detail):• FAIL, Red — the card is in a failed stateand unable to function properly• ACTV Green — unit is busy and must notbe unplugged without first removing traffic• LOC, Yellow — the link SNR (signal-tonoiseratio) is under the margin threshold• REM, Yellow — remote (far end) signalreception failure• 22.8 kft using #19 AWG• 16.1 kft using #22 AWG• 12.3 kft using #24 AWG• 9.0 kft using #26 AWGFor all applications, copper facilities may be utilized without removingbridged taps or providing binder group separation. Bridged tapparameters support either one continuous tap not greater than 2,000feet, or a total sum of tap distances not to exceed 2,500 feet.
