Present <strong>Study</strong> AreaAn area <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> about 420 km 2 <strong>in</strong> the core <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the coal m<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g areas <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the district is selected for the presentstudy. The area is extended from 92°13'52''E and 92°25'16''E l<strong>on</strong>gitudes to 25°16'7''N and 25°27'28''Nlatitudes (Figure 2.4). The topography <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the area is undulat<strong>in</strong>g and elevati<strong>on</strong> ranges from 700m to1400m (Figure 2.5). The area is dra<strong>in</strong>ed by Laphirawi river and its tributaries (Figure 2.6). The totalnumber <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> settlement <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> different sizes covered under the study area was 45.
