We have regular formal and informalstakeholder management processes at all levels acrossour business.Through dialogue and consultation with our stakeholders,we have identified our material sustainability issues. Theseare grouped under five themes, as shown below.External engagementIn addition to regular liaison and engagement with ourstakeholders, we also contribute our opinions to publicpolicy debate on matters affecting our business and ourindustry. As such, we are members of The International AirTransport Association (IATA), Airports Council International(ACI), The Air Transport Action Group (ATAG), The UKAirport Operators Association (AOA) and SustainableAviation.We also work closely with academics and experts todevelop our knowledge and resources to extend positiveimpacts beyond our own business.We contributed to OMEGA, a UK Government-fundedresearch project to find new technological, operational andbusiness approaches to reduce the environmental impactof aviation. We are also working closely with ManchesterMetropolitan University’s Centre for Air Transport and theEnvironment, where we created the position of Chair ofSustainable Aviation.RecognitionOur efforts have been recognised through a number ofindustry awards:n Manchester Airport won the 2010 North West BusinessExcellence Award, recognising excellence in all thecategories included in the sustainability award.n For the fourth consecutive year, East Midlands Airportwon a Green Apple Award for environmental bestpractice.n East Midlands Airport’s bus network, Skylink, was HighlyCommended, at the 10th annual National TransportAwards, in the Travel Information and Marketingcategory.n We hold five Big Tick awards from Business in theCommunity, recognising our sustainability programmeas exemplary.The Manchester Airport Group PLC Annual Report and Accounts 2010-11
